Bruin is the name of the bear from the French Fairy Tale, "Reynard the Fox," named for his brown color. The fairytale was rewritten by a dutch author in the mid thirties to contain an anti-semitic slant. So they're the Boston Browns and they hate jews. |

The word entered the English language via William Caxton's 1485 translation of a Dutch version of the legend of Reynard the Fox. Bruin is the bear, named for his brown color. |
