Not. Eliminated tonight.

Now, Brodeur is getting old, you don't get your draft picks, Kovalchuk will sign elsewhere and the Devils will miss the playoffs for the first time in a while.

Kovalchuk was playing like he was still in Atlanta. The guy's only playoff experience before this was getting swept by the Rangers if I recall correctly. Tried to do everything himself, which worked while in Atlanta facing a different opponent every night, but if you're in a seven games series, teams are going to adapt to you offensively and you're not going to be able to put on a one man show for more than one or two games. His play took his line mates out of the game at times and that's what sunk the Devils.

You have to take a gamble every now and then.

He wasn't going to work in a system which made him play defense.

Had Pittsburgh, Washington, Buffalo, or some other team which can focus on the offensive side he would have done much better.

I know we don't play an all offensive first game, but we don't play an all defensive first game either.

I'll go even further and say that he's not going to work in a system. Period. Because he only commits to the personal and offensive side of it.

The guy won't even skate hard back to the bench on a change to let someone else hop the boards and play that side of the puck.

Kovi's a bum, and a liability at the salary he's requesting.

I can see Kovalchuck ending up in LA as they have the cap space to add someone like him next year. Also, Brodeur should seriously think about quitting. Yeah he had a good year during the season but he flopped in the Olympics and really sucked in the playoffs

I did hear Kovalchuk and backchecking in the playoffs, and I thought I was going crazy.
