Old news. He said he'd be coming back to the Wings a couple of weeks ago as soon as he was told his contract with Dinamo Moscow was being bought out so they didn't go bankrupt on his salary alone. Turns out they did anyways, and no longer exist as a team (they either merge with HC MVD or vanish into history).

So he actually would have made the same amount of money had he taken the Rewings amount of 5.75 million instead of 5 per year.

It's actually a sad, sad story. Clubs in Russia are funded primarily through advertising and sponsorship revenue, pulling in little profits through merchandising or attendance. After Dinamo's season was over, their sponsors just kind of said "Fuck it" and decided not to sponsor them anymore.

This is the oldest club in Russia, and the most storied. Imagine if the Habs just stopped existing...that's what it's going to be like in Russia without Dinamo.

I hope the entire KHL folds, it certainly seems like to be a joke if they lose a fairly noticeable team.

if the KHL folded, another league would just pop up. the KHL is just a rebanded RSL, or russian superleague. they deserve a major league as much as north america.

I never remembered the Russian Super league have so many problems as the "rebrenaded" KHL is having right now.

Not really, Hudler is an RFA, so they DON'T have to sign him, unless they have to sign him for the Arbitration amount he was given or not?

Nothing say legitimacy like your oldest and most storied franchise folding due to money issues......Dynamo going under is analagous to the Canadiens just packin it up and going home. What a joke....looks like its time to offer Kovy that 20 year $200 million contract !!!!hahaha

The RSL was only really around for something like 10 years or so, and the IHL before them less time than that. Since the league that formed back in the 40s (that I can't recall the name of) gave way to the IHL, Russian hockey leagues haven't been the most stable.
