Ryan rejects offer, wonder if someone will go for it.
............................................
Murray also voiced his frustration in negotiations with forward Bobby Ryan, saying the restricted free agent turned down a five-year, $25-million offer Thursday. Murray said he's done negotiating "for a while" with the 23-year-old Ryan, who scored 35 goals for Anaheim and played on the U.S. Olympic team last season.

"Basically, that situation is nowhere," Murray said.

I get to watch alot of Ducks games out here in Vegas and Bobby Ryan's a great player. I would love for the sabres to sign him to an offer sheet. I can dream can't I .

Yes. From what I hear, The Ducks want 5 years, Bobby wants 2-3.

we have a guy who scored 30 goals once who is making 5.3 i think people would love a guy who can score 35, is tougher, and is young for 5.0. regier probably won't put up an offer sheet though because of what happened to him with vanek.

Its pretty risky when you sign one to a mega offer sheet. I don't think its worth losing the draft pick compensation.

probably not but if he doesn't sign and falls to free agency then things become interesting. Burke will probably take a stab then, will your GM be there.

Darcy won't deal in offer sheets because he feels they are dishonorable.

That being said, if he decided to be a bastard and say "Anaheim wants to give you $5M but won't sign you for the term you want? I'll give ya $5.75M for the term you want," I'd be VERY pleased with it.

Yeah teams will wait until talk with Anaheim break off and Ryan becomes a UFA. Problem is he'll probably go to the Team USA staff in Toronto where Burke has the cap room to throw the money at him.

Offer Ryan 5.225 mil and the compensation is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rd pick. He's probably worth it, but only if it was a long term deal. If he wants a shorter contract length it wouldn't make sense. If Regier waits until he's a UFA Burke will have the upper hand as Team USA guru and the guy that drafted him.

And maybe he wants to come play with Ryan Miller: American Hero.

Maybe try and trade for his rights if things really get bad with Anaheim? Throw in Timmy, Stafford, or prospects... anything really.

Trading for his rights isn't an option now because July 1st has come and gone.

Was Phil Kessel not traded after July 1 last year without a contract. Or did he sign and then they traded him?

Hmm, well I always interpreted "trading for (insert player's name here)'s rights" as what teams do before 12PM EST on July 1st so they can sign him before FA hits.

That being said, I think he got traded without being signing first.

With UFA's yes but it must be different with RFA's. I'm quite sure we could trade for his right's and try and sign him.
