Clarke MacArthur was adjudged to be worth a one-year, $2.4M deal. The Thrashers, rightfully calling bullshit on that, walked away. Mac is now a UFA.

Wow, really?

Are arbitrators trying to screw over every team now?

It would certainly appear that way.

Fair comparison by the numbers.

But at least Guastad brings other things to the table, like faceoff skills, grit, some fighting, and leadership, let alone is fairly defensively responsible.

MacArthur is the hockey equivalent of that weird cousin at a family reunion no one wants to play Bocce with.

Clarke is def not worth $2.4, right now, but he holds potential to be a top 6 if he finds consistency. I guess I can kind of see where the arbitrators were looking, but who wants to pay for potential??

No way in hell is Clarke worth that much. Arbitrators seem to over value every player that go to arbitration. If I were Darcy I would be getting on the phone with Kennedy's agent very quickly because I have a feeling if Clarke is worth that much Kennedy will be worth alittle more. Time to re-sign Kennedy now and stop this waiting crap. I don't blame Atlanta one bit he's a mediocre player at best.

Boston is heavily-assumed to be accepting this deal.

Post subject:  Re: The NON-SABRES Arbitration Thread

Wheeler got way too much, if Wheeler had gotten 1.75 it would be fine, but he only got 38 points last year. And only had 45 points the year before.

Sorry, but Stafford got a 1.5 million dollar contract after putting up 45 points that year.

Boston needs to move someone to fit that under the cap also.

The Bruins accepted Wheeler's award, putting them over the cap, and then the Flames settled with Ian White prior to his hearing on a one-year $2,999,995 deal, putting them over the cap too.

Post subject:  Re: The NON-SABRES Arbitration Thread

What is the deal with Ian White's contract being $2,999,995, instead of just plain 3 mil? I bet that there is actually a reason for it, but I have no clue why. Anyone?
