Maybe I'm blind and didn't see this topic posted anywhere else, if it is out there, my bad. Please merge or just punch me in the nads. I was curious to see what everyone thought of some of the possible rule changes the NHL is looking at? - Hybrid icing rule - 3 on 3 OT after 4-4 (Trying to eliminate/cut down on shoot outs - No line changes on offside calls Among others… Thoughts? I like no line changes on offside calls. I've been following the developments of R&D Camp on Twitter. What I don't like is the new "cyclops" big-ass face-off circle they've been playing with. |

I don't like the Three Faceoff dots either. they just look weird. |

the hybrid icing sound dumb and will cause a lot of fan anger. the 3 faceoff dots is dumb then penalty line during faceoffs is dumb with the 3-3 overtime. when it gets down to 2-2 it will be horrible. you can only pray that someone scores in the first 3 minutes of ot actually most of what was brought up didnt make much sense to the game. |

NO MORE SHOOTOUTS! i like the 98-99 point format as well: 2 points for a win, 1 point tie, 0 points loss. im old fashioned. i also want the old 97-98 half circle creases back, and wooden sticks. |

Mike, no one likes old school points Or change it to 3 points for a win, 2 points for OT win, 1 point for OT loss/tie, and zero points for an outright regulation loss. Only do that system if OT is 10 minutes instead of 5 and played at 4-on-4 the entire time. And also these are just ideas being thrown out there to see what could work, we won't see anything in any game soon. The hybrid icing sounds fine honestly. Blow the whistle if the defender is the only possible player able to get the puck instead of wasting energy, but if it's close let them race. |

Eh....I'm a fan of having a winner and a loser. I'm not sold on the shootout being the deciding factor, but I like the 4-3-2 idea. |

I don't want the game to end in a tie. It's so boring. Do 5 minutes of 4 on 4, then 5 minutes of 3 on 3. Then, a shootout if necessary. |

I agree with every statement. The whole hybrid icing thing will probably result in me getting arrested. |

so there is an article on Yahoo about league rule changes that were player specific (ie: the Bobby Hull rule= curve of the blade. loosing a jersey in a fight=rob ray rule. etc.) one of things that they brought up made me think of this thread. if the NHL implements the overtime thing imaging what you will get when you get past the first 3 minutes... on chicago: "Hossa, Towes, Kane, go" "Kane, Towes, Cambell, go" on pittsburgh: "Crosby, Malkin, Staal, go" on buffalo: "Vanek, Roy, Connolly, go" "Vanek, Connolly, Meyers, go" it would turn into a powerline where the talent gap between teams would sky rocket. you might very well see teams that never loose a OT game and others that loose them all. |

Could also depend on the goalie, we do have Miller. |

points still the same. the team could (if done right) use only their top line after the first 3 minutes |
