Nick Kypreos tweeted a source of his out west is saying Niemi will sign with the Sharks as early as tomorrow. He's hearing $2M on a one-year deal.

I can't blame them for the move (two Finnish goaltenders!) but I honestly thought they were giving Thomas Greiss his chance to shine.

Eh... He's a decent backup but... We're set here.

im not part of lalime hate parade. hes a very capable backup. that being said, if miller went down for an extended period of time, i feel nitty can handle a long term work load better then lalime. i know, but sometimes you gotta build the bombshelter, even if the odds of nuclear winter are slim and none.

Nittymaki has his days where he's awesome and days where he sucks. Very inconsistent.

Mike, I like your way of thinking re: Nitty backing up Miller. Also, I agree Greiss is better than another season in the AHL.

Sky, I agree with you about Nitty's streaky nature. That's why I like this move by the Sharks.

I think that the Sharks are almost in no man's land; can't go forward or backward. They can never re-build, they are just too successful to do it. But they can't go forward in the playoffs because they just don't seem to have it.

Neimi signs a one year deal with "rival sharks" http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=536741

I think Niemi will do fine for them this year.

Amazing how he just won a Stanley Cup as a starter, and he's making 750 K less than Carey Price, a goalie who has yet to really prove anything in the NHL. Crazy Habs...

I think it's more than just fine, I think the expectations will be leading them to the promised land.

If you ask me I think the Sharks are desperately grasping at straws here I like Niemi but he is going to have to prove to me that he's a 2million dollar goalie even with the cup he just won.

Ohh and i know this is off topic but Lalime in 40 games with the Sabres has only won 9 games, that is friggin pathetic. And now I hope the Sharks trade Niitimaykii

But Miller named Lalime in his acceptance speech, so therefore he must stay.

Haha, during the Bills last game they asked Chan if Edwards had any say in who his back-up was, and he basically said hellz no, I run my ship, not the players. I'll tell ya what, while the Bills may still blow, they are at least turning towards the right direction. I am still in disbelief that they re-signed skeletor, and had to buy him out. Unreal.

Anyways, this reminded me of how many people here feel Miller had say in it(and yes, I realize Edwards is not Miller, but that's not the point).

ok, re-rail now.
