Just for the record, if Redden was even say 3.5M, I would want him on our team.

Sucks for him though, to be burried in the AHL at 33. Oh well, he had to have seen this coming..

We're gonna start seeing more and more teams do this I think, as the fallout from ridiculous contracts starts to actually take effect. Waiving players is going to have to become a part of teams' business models, a trick of the trade.

He was really good...on a team with defensive depth that could cover his mistakes and a forward corps that made him look good with lots of assists.

Now I know this isn't circumvention, because of the wording, but a rose by any other name is still a rose. I'll bet NJ is thrilled they(Rangers) are allowed to do this, yet they got stripped of two big picks. This shit is just foolish if you ask me. As I've said before, I wouldn't even join a fantasy league that was run as shoddy as this.

And this is exactly what Regier has said the last three years. He goes out and get solid, minute crunching D-Men (Montador, Morrison, to a lesser extent Leopold) all on the cheap and other teams make stupid moves like signing Wade Redden to a 6 year, $39 million contract or Brian Campbell for a 8 years, $56 million. Then they end up paying for it two years later.....that Campbell deal alone cost them most of the moves they had to make to dump salary this off-season. Just think what $7.1 mil a season could have let them keep......

And as much as everyone complains about their contracts and production, toss another $1.5 on those two and you get Connolly, Roy and Pommers.....I say win

Those long deals are only good for players like a Sidney Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Myers, Miller, Chara, Pronger, Toews, Kane, you get the idea.

Those long deals are good for certain players, but not everyone deserves those contracts. If you really are deserving of a deal like that, you prove it your entire existence in the league, by producing.
