"Everything happened so fast," Hjalmarsson said after the game. "My intention wasn't to hurt him. You never want to see someone laying on the ice like that."

Hjalmarsson was given a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct on the play.


Any predictions? I'm guessing 1-2 games because he's not a repeat offender.

I agree with 1-2 games. Hit from behind on a guy who hadn't touched the puck....plus he isn't a super star. He'll get something. Then again, this is the Bettman show so who the fuck knows.

it was a reckless blind sighted hit. on a guy who didn't even have the puck. the league made a huge deal about these sort of hits in the end of last season, so i think they might make an example out of it... 4-5 games.

It's not really the same. The league went after blindside and lateral hits to the head. This was not that kind of hit.

This was boarding from behind, no direct contact to the head, and it's been suspension worthy forever.

If I were Hjalmarsson I would pray that I was getting suspended for Saturday's rematch in Chicago. Regardless of his intention, he will be a marked man. Unless our team doesn't look like they care anything happened like they did last night.

When is the last time you actually saw the sabres get redemption for....anything?

Ok, true..i'd forgotten about that. But anything not IMMEDIATELY after the fact, I think you can forget about redemption. Hell, i'd love to see Kaleta put that guy through the freaking glass (and then grab a shard and jam it in dudes eye...) the next time they play, but i'd also bet money it aint gonna happen.

I'd love to see that fourth line out there when he's on the ice, but I agree, he's not a marked man.

McCormick seems like that type of player. I might be wrong, but he's a tough kid and he gets angry pretty fast. We'll see on Saturday.

Somebody dropped their equipment and grabbed a Hawk player. But Hjalmarsson was out of the game, so it's not like we could go after him.

That shit is so frustrating, when someone takes a cheap shot like that and the refs immediately remove them from the ice. No payback that night, just a bunch of pissed off guys who cant focus on their game.

That was McCormick a bit later on after the hit. Fucked the dudes grill up a bit from what I saw. Good to see that kind of passion on our team.
