FUCK YOU.

Up 4-0 on a team that flew into town right after a memorial service for their coach's daughter, and you run it to 7? Bunch of fucking assholes. Take your damn foot off the gas. Show a little class towards a team that just lost a family member.

I hope the Sens break you fuckers when the time is right.

...who cares? What are they supposed to do? NOT try to score anymore? That's a good way to let the other team right back in it.

Tom, i have to agree with them on this one. It's sad and all about the ceremonies that went on. But it's hockey, and I would hope my team goes foot all on gas all the time, no matter what.

You know, when I heard the score on the TV I thought the same thing, but I thought about it for awhile. I put my mind in the state of the players of both teams, and I came to the conclusion that life goes on. And kicking their asses wasn't out of spite for the deceased and it wasn't out of disrespect. It's simply about life, continuing. They played, and the Oilers did not. It wasn't so much the Canes being oppressive and insensitive, it was the Oilers being sensitive and depressed. Nobody wanted to celebrate, not a goal, not a win. And the sting of the lose could only serve to get their attention away from a deeper pain.

That is some deep shit right there.

It was the Senators. But still, interesting theory.

During the Buffalo/Florida game a couple years ago when Richard Zednik's neck was cut, Florida had trailed 3-1, but had come back to tie it. Sabres went on the PP halfway into the 3rd and got the lead back. Less than a minute later, Zednik was cut.

I remember not wanting to see the Sabres score on them after that because the game had gotten very active and both teams were fighting hard, but after the cut, Florida was mentally done. The Sabres scored on the PP in the last 2 minutes. Final 5-3 Buffalo.

Granted it was only 1 goal and both teams DID decide to continue, but the victory felt cheap.

Who cares, it was the Senators.

They are professionals and have to not let these things bother them, plus it was a good win for Carolina as they needed something like that. And I say it again, who cares, it was Ottawa, I love seeing them get destroyed like that, even with what happened today.

Now, I feel terrible for the coach, the team, not so much, the coach yes, it was his daughter who died and I do support the team for supporting him. And it really does suck to lose someone close to you, even if it was a coaches daughter.

Well that's a little better.

"Even if it was a coaches daughter"?

Did I read that right?

You're not allowed to watch hockey anymore.

Go to your room.

I don't think Carolina ran up the score. They outshot Ottawa 16-5 in the first. Ottawa outshot them 8-6 and 11-6 in the last two periods. It looks to me like they did dial it down.

Are you fucking serious? "Not let these things bother them?" You're fucking nuts. Have someone close to you die, and go ahead and block it out right away and do your job. You won't be able to do it.

I guess Schoenfeld and the Sabres weren't professionals when Tim Horton died and they could barely play the game.

I guess my friend's company isn't professional because one of their coworkers died suddenly at 29 last week, and they're still not right.

You know what Ottawa's schedule was yesterday? Instead of flying to Raleigh on Tuesday, spending the night, having a pre-game skate, and playing the game, they went the service Wednesday, flew down, got off the plane, and played. They weren't winning that game no matter what.

Sometimes life comes first and hockey comes second.

I don't want to sound insensitive but I can't imagine the players were that close to the coaches daughter.
Was the coach behind the bench? That's what I wouldn't understand, how can you fly down there after your daughter's funeral.
It's understandable that the players couldn't focuse on the game and didn't give a shit about it, but I can't blame Carolina for scoring on their opportunities. Ottawa didn't have to fly down there to play it. Ownership or the NHL could have said, fuck it, we're not going to play tonight and postpone the game. They didn't, so I expect the Carolina players to play the game. I don't expect the Ottawa players to do much though.

Luke Richardson's daughter. She died Saturday after attempting suicide.

They could have pulled up a bit in the 3rd. Yes, their shots were down, but they were still going after it hard.

LaRose probably couldn't do anything about his goal in the 3rd, it came right to him for a tap in. But Staal pushed a 2 on 1 for his, and Rutuu cranked the shit out of his shot too.

I'm probably overreacting a bit, and I'll freely admit that. I just see a team that could have taken their foot off the gas a little bit once the outcome wasn't in doubt, but instead decided to get healthy on a team who's mins were far away from the rink that night.

I'm glad that everyone feels that hockey players should be robots and be immune to their emotions.
