A guy on Twitter, who has broken several stories before the national media, is Tweeting that Alex Semin is going to be dealt to the New York Islanders. The deal needs to be approved by penny pinching Islander owner Charles Wang. The Isles would sign Semin ASAP after the deal is made.

If true - WOW. I don't know though. Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, but I guess the Isles would build their franchise around him and Tavares, assuming Tavares isn't part of the deal.

I doubt acquring Semin would help the Islanders get out of the basement this season or put fans in the seats. Garth Snow would be in better shape acquiring players for Tavares. One move he could make this season is sending Doug Weight out to a team making the postseason definitely.

I think they should hope to stay in the basement this season, if they ever want to see another Cup they need some more young star power! And yeah I guess I'm suggesting that they too should tank. You know what. I think the entire fucking league should try to lose! Wouldn't that be fun!? :shifty:

Semin's heart is a mirror image of his fighting ability, I seriously doubt he will ever win a Cup, or even deserve too. The Islander's need more guys like Bossy and Trottier.

Semin, like other Capitals, are very good in the regular season but when playoffs start they fade away. I wouldn't want him.

Vanishing in the playoffs? He was very effective in the 3 years he's been to the playoffs, except for last year's fuck up against Montreal.

Semin will want too much money and the Caps have a lot of money tied up on lots of players.

I beg to differ, he signed a goalie to a 15 year contract! He's willing to spend to win, but the team has been so poorly managed and the buzz for hockey is so tragically weak.

Instead, they went bust on DiPietro, and have been unable to attract young snipers. Tavares cannot score goals alone. The Islanders' most tradable asset would be Doug Weight. He can give the Capitals and Ovechkin a quick veteran presence and mentorship.

Tanking the season is one of the last things a team should hope for. The Islanders can do better. Save the tank for the Flyers and Rangers.
