According to multiple sources the Flyers have waived goaltender Michael Leighton after only one start.

I thought they would have at least given him a chance to reclaim the starting job in Philadelphia. It'll be interesting to see if anyone claims him.

really? i mean, granted bobrovsky looks like the real deal, but leighton is a hell of an option otherwise.

I could see this happening because Leighton is not a very good goalie just look at the cup finals. If the Flyers had say bobrovsky they might have won.

If I were a Flyers fan, I feel so much better with Bobs in net and not Leighton.

Bobs is their future, Leighton has never cut it in the NHL as a starter, the only reason he got thrown into that role during the SCF was because Boucher got injured.

104 games 34 wins 40 losses 10 ties 4 OTL 2.94 GAA and a .902 Sv%

Good backup, we should grab him and get rid of Lalime then.

I hope he clears so we can get some solid goaltending in Glens Falls.

Spot on analysis but I don't think he can really help the Sabres.

Leighton looked nervous to flat out scared in the playoffs but he gutted out some wins and the Flyers top 4 played out of this world. They did right by rewarding him for his efforts and then promptly moved on. I really hate the Flyers but they are a well run franchise for sure.

Thanks Rud, yeah they hooked him up but I think they really wanted to find somebody better, and they have.

he played 14 playoff games, and did well. leighton is an NHL goalie and when given a chance to play, he produces. not glamorous numbers, but hes a very very viable option, short term, or even as a starter for a time.

So the rest of the league agrees with me. He's not as good as some people were trying to make him be.

Meh, I think there's plenty of teams who don't trust their backups, but the cap era has made signing Leighton too difficult for them. Btw, I don't think he would help the Sabres, because they're better suited with Enroth. Lalime belongs in the scrap heap where I always said he belongs. Claiming that the team didn't play in front of him was a weak, unprovable excuse, and Enroth's 2-2 record proves it probably was him sucking after all.

Nothing in the NHL today is that cut and dry, and you know it.

Oh that is true, I don't really like him as a starter. But he also sucks badly after 8 games of sitting, but he's not good enough, to me, to be a starter. But who knows really?
