Don Cherry gets revved up on concussions: "If you got your head down, you're stupid enough, you'll get it. .. But the blindside, when you don't have a chance, like Crosby didn't have a chance, (Marc) Savard didn't have a chance, when you blindside a guy, that's the guys they should really rap because they're cheap shots. In the old days you would never do that because if you did that in the old days, blindsided a guy, you knew you were going to pay the price and somebody was going to get you. Not now. How can you with the instigator rule? It's vigilante, yeah. But we never had cheap shots like that to the head before."

I lol'd pretty good at the Olli dance As for Cherry's comments, I have to agree with him. But you don't have to go all the way back to his days of playing to know that guys just didn't take shots at other players. Back in the 80's - 90's, if you took a run at a guy like Yzerman, Gretzky & Co. chances are you were a deadman next shift by the hands of Probert, Semenko etc. Yes, it promotes fighting in the league but with guys knowing today that they can go out and play bush league without getting their face handed to them, it's allowed guys like Avery, Ott and even our own Patty mouth to still exist. My view, bring back policing to reinstate a form of fear/respect amongst players. At least there would be some level of respect in the league again. I dunno, just my two cents. P.S. Fuck Crosby and his lips. That is all.

If players hit a guy blindside, then they need to stop being pussies and take the punishment they damn well deserve! Teams also need to stop being pussies and dish out punishment. Refs also need to let the players play and let the douches that dish out blindside hits get what they deserve.
