This trade works out for the Ducks quite nicely. Lupul wasn't really offering much while Beauchemin's return to familiar climes will bolster their defense greatly. |

You know, if Toronto could get another good forward they could be a good team. Well, they need a goalie that doesn't suck too though. They have a good group of D men. |

the leafs obtained defensemen gardiner, a first round pick in 2008 as well as a 4th rounder. this could work out really well for the leafs as well. |

Dunno this is a total roll of the dice by Burke, you could get 30 goal scoring Lupol which helps the leafs a ton, or they get reconstructed Lupol who is a 25 point per year piece of garbage on a pricey contract. Either way both teams will benefit from this. |

Lupul will never be what he was, which wasn't great anyways. That the Leafs just acquired him for what he's being paid for two more years is a joke. The obvious target was to get Gardiner, but being saddled with Lupul is a dinger. |

I agree with Phil. They have to get rid of Loops salary to get the 4th. Good luck with that. Burky has a hard on for Jake, cuz he drafted him. Gardiner MIGHT become a 3-4 d man w/o the grit Beauchemin has. This helps the Ducks in a tight west conference race, and there's rumors the queens and sharts were interested(and are now pissed). Maybe the old connection paid off here. |

I agree Gardiner is good, but I'll express my concerns. 1. He's a converted forward to defense. 2. He's paired with Schultz, who makes it hard to judge how he'll be w/o him. 3. He regressed in production from his freshman year to his sophmore year. Something you NEVER want to see. All in all, he's having a fabulous year, and may be a HB candidate. He'll be a hell of a skater, but he still needs to prove he can play with the big boys. here's a good article from his coach: http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=353114 |

He is not much better than a lot of there forwards. To me the ducks made out pretty good even giving up that Gardiner guy, they have a lot of dmen on there team right now and supposedly a lot of d prospects. |
