Courtesy of CBC.ca: ![]() Lucic put on injured reserve "The Boston Bruins placed forward Milan Lucic on long-term injured reserve Sunday due to a broken finger. Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli didn't reveal how long Lucic will be out, but under NHL rules a player on injured reserve can't return for at least seven days after being hurt. Lucic didn't dress for Boston's 4-1 loss Saturday night in Phoenix after the big winger was hurt in a 3-0 win in Dallas on Friday. Coach Claude Julien said Saturday he wasn't sure exactly which digit Lucic injured, but suspected it was the right index finger. Lucic, 21, has yet to score in six games this season, his third in the NHL, after netting a career-high 17 goals in 2008-09. The Bruins inked him to a three-year extension worth more than $12 million US over the summer." |

If you break it clean it's easily a 2-3 week recover time. He may not be much of fighter for a little while. |

Broken fingers. If it is his index finger it would be hard to grip a stick right. |

I had a boxers fracture in my left hand (5th metacarple) and after surgery and 2 pins it took 5 weeks in a cast, then atleast a week of stretching it to get it to bend again so I could hold a hockey stick. So, long term could be the case, depending if they either reset it or open him up with surgery. |

CriminallyVu1gar wrote: Tape it and get out there, jesus. lol kinda tried that when I broke my leg, CV. I didn't think I needed to stay in the big, bulky plaster cast, so I made a make shift cast and played part of one game. Big mistake. That night, I bought the stuff at the local pharmacy to make a nice leight weight fiberglass cast and stayed off it for the next 4 weeks. To my credit yesterday, I blocked a shot with my face/mouth. Blood? Check. Swelling? Check. More blood? Check. Paper towel + water = next shift in the game. Although chewing food afterwards was a chore |

I've broken my right arm twice in three places, my left index and middle fingers, my left pinky toe, severely bruised/broke my right foot (hurt for two months, never went to the hospital), bruised/broken my ribs (hurt for two months, never went to hospital), pulled muscles in my leg, severely sprained my right thumb, minor sprain in my left thumb, and a pretty bad ankle contusion. The first broken finger kept me out of one baseball game, I taped it and played. The second one kept me out of two basketball games. Taped and played. Nothing else kept me out of anything. Might thumb was too weak to hold a pencil, I was playing football a week later. |

I played four in-line hockey games with bruised ribs (defenseman). I did not shy away from contact or blocking shots one bit. I frightened my teammates, because I had no fear blocking shots. I nearly took a few in the face. My nickname was crash for my style of play. Kind of like Patty Kaleta...let's see what I can get away with, but without the open ice hitting (had to be mroe subtle). |

I had it sewn back on during the next intermission and played the rest of the game. Scored the OT winner. |

I once played some games wearing pink skates as a dare. I stopped wearing them after about a year; I decided they really just weren't for me............
