Bettman wrong, Fasel says
"[Regarding Bettman]...Fasel, the IIHF's president, also knows this: The Olympics still offer a global reach and penetration otherwise unavailable to the world's biggest hockey league. Sitting in his office in a leafy enclave in downtown Zurich, in fact, Fasel sounds like he's grown weary of Bettman's oft-repeated reservations about the Olympics.
And, on this matter, he's hardly alone in the hockey world.
"He's wrong," Fasel said Tuesday. "He's completely wrong. If you want to bring hockey to new people and new sponsors, you have to use the huge stage of the Winter Olympics. For Torino, we had 14 billion TV viewers (over the course of the 2006 Winter Games). When I see the numbers the NHL reaches on TV, you cannot compare."
One word for you, Mr. Fasel: "Versus". We don't need no stinkin' Olympic exposure...no siree!
