Courtesy of Faceoff.com: He's not the messiah, he's just Phil Kessel "Phil Kessel cannot walk on water. But the Toronto Maple Leafs forward, who has been hyped as the Chosen One ever since he was acquired from the Boston Bruins last month, can certainly skate on its frozen version. And with his team still searching for its first win of the season, seeing the 22-year-old on the ice yesterday provided hope. Hope that a player who underwent off-season shoulder surgery is getting closer to joining the lineup. Hope that the offence will soon have a legitimate sniper in its ranks. And, most importantly, hope that a season-saving saviour is on the way." Gotta hedge your bets, and attempt to prepare for a possible "loss of face" - The Leafs have invested heavily in Phil Kessel, and what they expect him to bring to this undisciplined team and their anemic offense may well be unrealistic and wishful... Gotta prepare for the worst. If Kessel isn't the Messiah?...the media and fans will dismember Burke and Wilson. Getting to be a really long season in Toronto, already. *chuckle* |

It's got to suck watching your new team tank before you even take the ice. They'll be out of the playoffs before he skates. |

Our Grier who art on the PK Shouted be thy name Thy kills come, thy clears be done In front of the crease as it is in the defensive zone Give us this day our two points And forgive us for our shorthanded situations As we forgive those that go shorthanded against us Lead us not into lottery picks And deliver us from missing the playoffs For thine is the crosscheck, and the blocked shot, and the shortanded chance Forever and Ever. Griermen. |

http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/in ... dhradek_ej Quote: Brother, I'm a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. I know ... we stink. How mad am I going to be when the Bruins have the first pick (OUR PICK!) in the 2010 draft? -- TimHorton3, Brampton, Ontario Bro, you're going to be very, very mad. OHL star Taylor Hall, a left wing for the Windsor Spitfires, currently figures to be the top pick. The 6-foot, 186-pound Hall is a dynamic skater who has shown terrific puck skills during his time in Windsor. Last season, he was a big piece of the Spitfires' OHL/Memorial Cup champions. This year, he has 10 goals and 24 points in his first 13 games. You aren't going to be happy seeing him slipping a Boston Bruins sweater over his head on draft day. For your sake, I hope the bad news Leafs can find enough wins to avoid that ugly day. That would be sooooooo funny. |

i dont understand how thats funny. the leafs miss out on the pick, but the kid still goes to a division rival. a division rival poised to lead the division standings for years without this kid. jokes on us. |
