About the hit Weiss put on Gaustad...

"It's definitely a play you have to look at now because we lost 'Gaus' under the new program," Ruff said. "We lost him for 15-20 minutes. He has to be evaluated."

If it takes that long for the process to be completed in the "quiet room", no doubt some 4th liner will take a run at a top line player during a tight playoff game. This is practically an incentive to deliver a hard hit and risk a head shot (intentional or not), just to take a star player out to be evaluated.

Yea, I can definitely see the problem with that. Even if you eject the guy that gives the head shot, I think most teams are willing to lose a 4th line grinder to take out the other team's top guy.

That's why throwing people out of the league at some point is so necessary; they can't do it again, and it sends a message to respect your fellow players.

Thanx Mario(and She-ro, Buttman and Colon). lol. That's why you slowly and carefully make and institute new rules.

Well this is a league run by idiots, so you just have to get used too not seeing star players play. It's only been that way for like 80 years.

this "strategy" really isnt that new to the game. way back when teams used to have goons start fights with star players in order to get the 5min penalty.

The data I want is what the average penalty per evaluation is, and how long it takes to return a player. That will dictate how often it happens to remove a goal scorer with 10 minutes is left in a playoff game. The Paajarvi play tonight should have been a whistle, it took him literally 30 seconds to get up, and even start his way to the bench. 2 or 3 guys helped him find the door he was so woozy. 5 minutes later, the guy is back on the bench. It'll be a mess.
