The look on Vigneault's face is priceless. Looks like he is trying not to acknowledge the fact that his fling from the night before followed him to the game.

Looks to me like he's shuttering over the fact that his face is going to be pasted right next to that shirt in every hockey blog across North America today.

They got kicked out because the Canucks consider "Homo" to be a derogatory word for gay folks, asked them to cover the word, and they refused. So they got escorted out.

You guys know I love to play court-house lawyer, so what does this say about freedom? Sure he's being an ass(even though I find it funny, and I do because I don't know if there was malicious intent). I, personally find it distasteful, but as with all speech, where's/there's the gray area. If he had of completed the terminology correctly(Gay Canadian???), or been acting in a skit, would he have remained? Maybe. That's the point. They discriminated against this dickbag's rights(he doesn't like gay people, and he's not inciting a riot; there is no provision against speech that "it pisses you off" that I know of). As sad as that is. Hopefully Vancouver has a clear sign of words they deem derogatory.

Wow, I know a lot of gay people, and I would never think "homo" was a derogatory slander against gay people. I mean, it would be different if the shirt said "Hockey Lovin Fag" or something like that...but homo? C'mon.

The Vancouver Canucks are a private business. They can throw you out of the building for wearing LA Kings gear if they want to.

The gentlemen originally had 'HOMO' covered up with tape, and left it that way until the 3rd period. They removed the tape, and Canucks security asked them to please replace it and cover the word up. They refused, and were escorted out.

There is no discrimination here.

LOL that's funny.

I personally find it to be in poor taste, and I don't think the Canucks did anything unjust. Now, if the t-shirt read "homo-sexual" instead of just homo, then I think he has every right to wear that t-shirt.

I agree they had the right to kick him out, but I doubt their public stance is, "we will kick out whoever we want for whatever reason". The only thing you're forgetting is this guy PAID for a service. He has every right in the world to sue the Vancouver Canucks if he feels he didn't receive what was implied(ie: the right to watch that hockey contest). I'm almost certain they probably do have a clause somewhere that covers them if they kick someone for that kind of behavior though. I wonder if the usher would have thrown anyone out for calling someone on the other team a "homo". I doubt it, and it probably does still happen. I also don't think the Canucks would fair very well in a suit if they kicked someone out for wearing a Kings jersey though.

Yeah as much as I think it's bullshit, Tom is right - they can boot who they want, when they want, for whatever reason they want.

And every team in the NHL has a clause basically telling you that they can boot you for whatever reason they deem appropriate and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. Re: the Sabres, it's right on the ticket itself.

Read your tickets. It's a license to watch a sporting event that can be revoked at any time for any reason. The Canucks would win any lawsuit that was leveled.

I think it's bullshit, homo means the same, and if it's derogatory, then wow.

It would be different if he wasn't gay and admitted to being gay.

If they were to sue, they would easily win or get a settlement. Any lawyer would go straight to the literal definition of the word and use it against the Canucks.

No, they wouldn't. Read your tickets. Your ticket is a license to attend the sporting event. This license may be revoked for any reason. Fans have been thrown out of venues for years. None of them has ever won a lawsuit over it.

People have been asked to cover up words, or turn shirts inside out, at sporting events for years. You comply, or you lose your license to continue to attend the event. It's very cut and dry.

The full video shows them with duct tape over the word homo. When they find out the camera's on them, they take the tape off...
