Just now seeing this on TSN.ca He's up for a phone hearing with the league today. The video can be seen on the game highlights from last night on tsn.

Quote:
"It was a fine hit," said Torres. "I was finishing my hit and he had his head down. We were both going for the puck. I've got to finish my hits. He was obviously in a vulnerable position but at the end of the day I have to finish my hit or else I am out of a job."

he'll get suspended...but maybe players will learn to play with their heads up. don't be an idiot on the ice, it's a contact sport.

Maybe players should learn not to elbow someone's face then use the excuse "OH HIS HEAD WASN'T UP". It's never an excuse.

Clear headshot. Not even disputable. Blaming that on Eberle's head being down is absurd.

Tell that to Cassie Campbell.

"both going for the puck" says Torres, I think not. Torres was not thinking puck at all, that's pretty obvious from the replay. Of course, the 1st time offender BS will be applied, more NHL failure on the way...

i didn't say it wasn't a headshot.

i said don't keep your head down. if you're a player, don't put yourself in a dangerous position because you can. if you're playing the wall, don't turn your numbers when you see someone coming.

If Eberle was standing upright it would have been a clean hit. Because he wasn't there was contact to the head, and the onus is on Torres to avoid that whether it's going lower or avoiding the hit altogether.

File comment: Definitely not the flying elbow type of malicious hit.

Common knowledge, you need to look down at the puck. It's a necessity in hockey. Jordan Eberle did that and Raffi Torres took his elbow and raped his face. 4 game suspension agrees with my statement.

I didn't say that you said he shouldn't be suspended, I meant even if you have your head down a player shouldn't elbow you in the face, making the head up thing not necessary if players are going to respect each other.

Because he's a 1st time offender. OH WAIT... He's just never been suspended for his countless dirty and questionable hits.

"I've got to finish my hits. He was obviously in a vulnerable position but at the end of the day I have to finish my hit or else I am out of a job."

That quote right there is exactly what's wrong with certain players' attitudes when it comes to hitting.

that's the kind of play that is "forgivable" in a contact sport. it wasn't malicious. in fact, torres' arms were down at his side when he made the hit. it just happened that the other guy's head was that low. this is what should be considered a "reasonable" headshot, without any malice or anyone in uprise about it. if you watch hockey at all, and have for more than 4 years, you can't disagree that players put themselves in dangerous positions more than they ever did in the past, especially pre-lockout.
