I hear this quite a bit when watching junior hockey but what do guys think?? I think if you are a Crosby, OV, Tavares and Kane you are the exception but guys like Sam Gagner, Colton Gillies, Gilbert Brule and lots of other should not have been rushed up and they are hanging on by thread to keep there jobs. I am all for having guys like Myers and Del Zotto to be up but they are still too young. Thoughts?? |

...anything over 16 (used to be, way back in the day) if you have the grit, size and skill. Boys mature (physically and mentally) at different rates. I got no problem with a kid who can play the man's game...but, no "new-age", sensitive, psycho-babble snivelling. If ya can't take the heat - outta the damn kitchen. I'm okay with it. But, it's not for everyone. And all the dickhead GM's need to acknowledge that, and take responsibilty for their fuck-ups, if they "damage" a kid. |

If little Schony can be in Marine boot camp getting his ass chewed by a drill Sargent while training to become a sniper at age 18, I got no problem with 18 or 19 year olds playing hockey for a cool half mil or more. |

Like ETC said, if you can die for your country at 18 years of age, playing in the NHL at 18 is nothing different, it would be more a breeze or walk in the park then trying to survive attacks around every corner almost. |

I think that if a player can play on the NHL team in the role he was drafted to fulfill than he should play. But dont draft an offensive stud like Gilbert Brule and stick him in the bottom six cause he is defensively sound. |

the age limit should be brought down to 18 in the AHL. however, i dont think it would hurt to raise the NHL age to 19. i guess im old school and cautious. cause i think every nhl player, even crosby, should be subject to one season in the minors. but i dont make the rules. |

That would make the AHL a lot more interesting... BTW I'm going to my first Admirals game of the year today.

The reason they have the age limit in the AHL is so the AHL doesn't pouch Junior players, since many play after 18 in Juniors. The AHL would be much more interesting, but the Junior leagues would suffer the worst hits. |

If they can play, they can play. Age is a non sequitur. |

Hahaha @MILM Seriously though, given last season's and this season's draft classes have provided an embarrassment of 18- and 19-year-old riches, I think the question is kind of moot. |

The inability of underaged players to go out "boozin'" may serve as a primary reason why they will eventually take the position away from older, less disciplined players, who can't separate job responsibility from celebrity perk. Anyone can't stay home on a "school night", keep his dick in his pants, and show up ready for business on game-day, deserves to sit, in favor of someone with a greater focus and committment. |

It depends on who the team is, what the team needs, and how skilled they player is. I mean if the team sucks and the kid they drafted is a superstar in the making, i think its perfectly ok to have them up and playing on the team, or if his posistion is one they need to fill. But if they are bringing the kid up for the sake of bringing him up, and they know he can be of no real help, i see no point in having him play. |
