What's everyone's opinion on officiating so far in these playoffs? In Sabres games and others... I for one am not happy. They are not consistent with the calls they are making. Like Kaleta get's called for taking down that dude after the whistle and he got a penalty but that shit happened throughout the whole game and didn't seem like the callls were at all going our way.

I'd love to not blame this deficit on the refs but it's hard to when they don't make calls on them that they made on us a couple of shifts before...

It's an amorphous blob of suck like it always has been. I don't think it's been significantly worse in any given series. My biggest criticism is that they're letting too much obstructive play/interference go. This is hockey, not hock-rugby.

funny story, there's no blocking or holding in rugby, so your comparison is bad.

there's tackling, wrapping up, etc. which is a big part of what has been happening in the playoffs.

I feel like you follow me around and nitpick my posts often for no reason. Please stop.

The Sabres are not behind because of officiating.

That being said, NHL officiating is always a huge bag of dicks in the playoffs.

They're doing their best. The cryers don't have a label of a team that Dives, I'm not pretending that there is a conspiracy theory or anything, but for whatever reason the cryers do not have a reputation of a team that Dives. And yet, they do, all the time. Two of their power plays were the result of moderate shoves that were dramatically embelished. So...that's a Dive right? But the cryers know it wont be called in the playoffs so they do it and they get the calls their way. They are very opportunistic, they know when the time is right to Dive. It's all about the timing.

And, they are extremely careful to NOT moderately shove the Sabres. They make their penalties count. Nobody works the system like the cryers, and they get rewarded for it. It's frustrating to watch, and I would need a straight jacket if I had to play against them myself.

Lindy Ruff needs to see if he can try and calm his team down and see if they can stop moderately shoving the cryers and just stop the excessive stuff like crosschecking. Weber probably should have been given one when he was adjusting fartsmells back.

I don't want the Sabres to try and satisfy personal vendettas or vent frustration, I want them to WIN THE ROUND. That's all that matters. It's up to them to play a more cerebral style.

cry about it. i play rugby and no one knows what it is. there is no "wrapping up" the only contact in the play is the guy getting tackled.

you happen to have an assload of posts every day and yes, when i see something i don't like, i am more than happy to bring it up. it's a percentage game. if you've made 16k posts in 18 months, you're hitting around 30 posts a day and yes, you post controversial stuff i don't always agree with.

All I ask is that the calls are consistent, if you don't call something on one team, don't go calling it on the other. If you call something on one team, make sure you fucking catch every time the other team does it. Thats not how it works though.

I've seen soo many interference calls go uncalled. The Sabres plan is to punch it into the zone and chase after it, but they keep getting held up on the boards. Thats interference, but it goes uncalled EVERY FUCKING TIME.

If the Sabres team embellished even half of the shit the Flyers get away with we'd have multiple powerplays. I'm not blaming the refs for the game 3 loss, but for fucking sure i blame them for the game 2 loss. That was a one sided ass raping if you ask me.

I think both teams have gotten carried away with their positioning along the boards, it looks blatant for both teams but they are not calling it at all for either side. Which actually hurts the Sabres more because they have some smaller wingers who need to take more time to skate around the big assed cryer defenders.

I give up trying to understand the rules, it's pretty much whatever...

and while we are at it, can we discuss how and why centers get tossed out of the circle and it seems like our centers are getting bounced fairly regularly ... i could be off on that... but i swear there were a couple times where timmy was bounced without even moving... anyone have any thoughts on how it is supposed to work?

flyer fans feel the officiating has been very pro-sabres this series.

so im gonna assume the series has been called evenly, if nothing else.

Sabres have been called for the most minors out of every playoff team. The Flyers can STFU.

RJ, in this series, has said "AND NO PENALTY!" or "OH COME ON NOW!"more times than in the whole season.

anybody watching these West games and thinking too themselves, "wow I wish we had these refs"? There seems to be so much more skating and talent, the players are at least allowed to get their legs into the game and play some end to end hcokey. In the east it's all about traps and penalties and diving. I blame the Flyers for most of the crappy hockey in this series just like the crapped down 4 rounds of last seasons hockey. This series is just a continuation of the dirty whining and diving they did all last year. But the scary thing is that it got them all the way to the Finals last season, so if it works I guess they should keep doing what they do.

I'm worried about Game 5 for the Sabres, because they are playing it almost too tough. Gaustad has shoved Flyers into the bench door twice without calls, and Butler, Weber, and Myers have gotten away with some liberties. I love ALL OF THAT action, I really do, but I feel like the refs are going to screw them soon.

Yeah but as soon as we get the momentum at even strength the flyers do something retarded and throw a wrench into the machine. Either by making it 4 on 4 or trying to rattle the team into personal vendettas and bad penalties, and even when it works out good for the Sabres and they get a PP that sometimes throws them out of sync, especially now that the PP has cooled off.

There's going to be so much bitching and Diving in game 5, it's going to be embarrassing. They are incapable of playing an honest game of hockey.

i cant argue that the flyers play dirty and take liberties. but the sabres are fighting fire with fire, giving them a dose of their own medicine in return. and its working.

if the sabres can solve boucher, that would be really nice. haha. because the sabres could be up 3-1. but coulda woulda shoulda.

Sabres need the puck more. Bottom line. Maybe then they wouldn't take bullshit penalties from the refs because there's not many penalties to be taken WITH the puck.

Truer words were never spoken, and it begins with not turning it over inside your own zone. Thanks to Miller that didn't hurt them yesterday, but you know what they say about playing with fire.
