classy player. classy guy.

i remember during the game against buffalo last year, they asked mike if he remembered 1999 (yeah, it sucks, but its the past) and i guess he got all excited and pointed to a stall in the locker room and said it was his stall in 1999 and he would never ever forget it.

im glad he did get his name on the cup, even if it was at the expense of the sabres.

Def one of my favorite players ever. I only wish he laced up with the Sabres.

Classy...it's being reported that the Stars are signing Modano to a 1 day contract for $999,999 so he can retire a Star.
He'll retire before getting paid.

TSN's poll has Modano with the most votes for the best American player ever. I'd take Chelios and LaFontaine before Modano, personally.

Apparently just after he announced he retired the Canucks of all teams showed some intrest in him.

I remember when Modano's arm was bothering him in the '99 Final and Jay McKee came in and crushed Modano into the boards. Modano left the ice and I remember thinking, "man, he could be out for the series!". Then he came back and I totally had a respect for his toughness...even though I was pissed he was okay to keep playing
