As of today (Oct. 24) the Washington Capitals are off to a 7-0 start to the season. Obviously we know that a great start doesn't always mean something (06-07 President Trophy year) but is this team for real? Do you think they have the pieces now with Vokoun?

Personally, I think they are due, if not over due, for a true run for the cup. The biggest thing they've lacked was goaltending. For the last couple of years they have relied upon very young, rookie goaltenders who were decent between the pipes but lacked experience. Now with Vokoun, they have the experience.
The more pressing question right now is, will they break the record for the longest winning streak to start the season? They still need three more wins to tie the Sabres/Leafs who hold the record of 10. The upcoming games are, at Edmonton, at Vancouver, home against the Ducks, and then away at Carolina.

No, they will lose a lopsided game before the tenth game.

personally I think the Canucks will be the best chance to beat them.

The Caps GM has to be all smiles as his summer additions -- including goaltender Tomas Vokoun and forwards Joel Ward and Troy Brouwer -- have helped Washington get off to a 7-0-0 start, the best in franchise history. The Capitals made it seven straight on Saturday night, when they crushed the previously-unbeaten Detroit Red Wings by a 7-1 score at the Verizon Center.
