Tucker carried off ice in Avs win over 'Canes

...I don't know how many of you watched, and saw this - It was pretty dirty, and the results; frightening.

"Tucker was hurt when he was slammed into the boards by Ruutu as he tried to play the puck in the Hurricanes' end at 14:34 of the second period.

Tucker's face hit the glass hard and he fell to the ice on his back unconscious as Avalanche doctors and trainers attended to him, bringing a hush to both benches and the crowd.

Medical personnel applied a neck brace before strapping the forward to a backboard. Tucker appeared to regain consciousness as he was moved off the ice, revealing a pool of blood where he had been laying for more than five minutes.

The team said Tucker had a concussion but was alert and taken to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

Ruutu was assessed a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct, and Hejduk scored on the subsequent power play, converting a feed from Paul Stasny to put the Avalanche up 3-2 at 10 minutes of the second period."

Really fucking stupid and dirty. Let's see what the league does, after this latest incident.

Just seen the highlights from last night. As much as I hate Darcy Tucker, that was one dirty hit. You never want to see that kind of stuff in the game and I hope the league takes a good long look at the tapes. Yes, people will say that Ruutu took him out very close to the boards unlike some of the other shots from behind where there is a good 4-5 feet gap between the player and the boards, the fact that his numbers were showing says you don't take advantage of it. If Tucker was able to be ready for the hit and know he was going to be pasted he wouldn't have been carted off on the slab. He would have been rattled I'm sure, but no where near the condition he was in.

Again, I'm not a fan of Darcy Tucker but that could have been anyone in the league on the end of that hit, maybe even one of our boys. There's no need for it. One bonus, he was awake and alert when they got him off the ice.

Hope he bounces back.

I remember the league punishment LaPierre got when he did this last year to Kaleta...nothing. Then again, that's Buffalo and the league could care less if our boys live or die, so that is not a real precedent.

it was dirty but still just a boarding penalty. I doubt the NHL will do anything more

I feel its a tad late...past that little window period to hit a guy after he makes a pass.

"I am watching him move his two right arms"

LOLWUT

Also, yea, the fucking Ruutu's are scumbags...all of 'em.

Hey, Rob, so if you're "Live by the sword, die by the sword", you're incensed view on the Bertuzzi/Moore incident is rendered null and void then, eh?

I'd give him atleast 3 for being related to the douche that bit Peters finger last season.

Surprised he didn't bite him...I'm sure his brother yelled at him for not doing that.

It didn't look that bad to me. The hit wasn't particularly hard, it just looked awkward.

A boarding penalty, sure...but I didn't see anything that looked worthy of more punishment.

Give him 25 games, and knock off this checking people face first into the boards once and for all. It's really gonna take someone getting killed for the NHL to figure it out, and it's a shame that it's going to have to come to that.

You should never, ever, ever, ever, ever hit someone above the shoulder, head first into the boards...period. I don't care if it's the dirtiest player in the league, or a guy like Marty St. Louis...you just flat out shouldn't ever go head hunting...period.

Somewhere Michael Peca is grinning - just a bit.................. ;)

I don't like those type of hits, but if there is such a thing as Karma; it just happened.

I bet, even if they were teammates for a season. I'm sure Islander fans are happy, they HATE Tucker. Probably second to Dale Hunter...
