I think he'll get at least five games for being a repeat, repeat offender. It was about the same scenario as the Neal hit on Couterier, but Neal should've gotten at least 2-3 games for that one. Add in that Hossa actually went to the hospital (not that it should really matter), and Torres has at least two more incidents than Neal, and I would guess maybe up to ten games.

But, it seems like players are not deterred by 1-5 game suspensions. Like many people have said in the last year or two, I think across the board suspensions need to be in the 5-10 game range just to start, all the way up to whole season or longer until they get the point.

Well lets see neal left his feet in a game and he got nothing for that but he did only get one game for elbowing giroux in the head. So Torres will get 1 game oh wait hes not the penguins so he will get 5 games

I'm betting that Shanny tries to make an example of Torres by giving him a long suspension, then goes right back to his old ways with other players.

Yeah, that's probably a bad thing. I wouldn't be surprised if it's an 8-10 slap.

Torres and his agent asked for a delayed hearing because they couldn't get to NY fast enough. The team very much wants a ruling asap so they know what to do next.

I still think he gets over 5 games, maybe ten.

He should get what Carkner and Weber should've gotten.

hockey should be policed and governed from within, unless a VERY rare an heinous incident occurs. the minute you start charging hockey players with assault from actions on the ice as a form of discipline is the day the sport begins its death.

unless its a very rare and heinous incident. this was neither. unsettling and filthy, yes.

Assault charges made sense for McSorely on Brashear, and Bertuzzi on Moore.

Those were extremely egregious actions. This was simply a dirty hit, and does not rise to the level of criminality.

I think it should be indefinite. Torres has shown repeated disregard for player safety; either through inability to control his body (not very likely) or a lack of 'give a fuck'.

He's pulled this shit 3x in the last calendar year, has he not?
