A straight on hit, but Wisniewski brought the elbow up and caught him in the jaw area. No penalty called, no serious injury either, but a two game suspension. That seems fair to me, but stinks a little of a double standard.

Canadien golden boy hits an American player with a shoulder-to-head shot from the blindside causing serious injury...penalty called but no suspension.

American player hits Canadien golden boy from straight on without causing serious injury, but brought the elbow up. No penalty called but a two game suspension.

Things that make you go hmmm.

Double standards and inconsistent officiating/discipline in the NHL?

I might feel a little less devoid of sympathy if Doan didn't clearly try to injure Tyler Myers with an elbow to the head after he had gotten the wind knocked out of him by another Coyote player first.

Its hard to tell from that angle... to me it looks like it was a clean hard hit that just knocked some sense into Doan... But it could have easily been an elbow, its quite hard to say. Never the less... I feel bad for Doan looking like he had just been on the Mind Eraser, at 6 flags, five times in a row lol.
