Guys, I don't think we have to worry about Ryan moving to LA and trying to become a celebrity all because he is dating an actress. Whatever your opinion may be on his new lady friend, we still have to remember what a smart guy he is and his loyalty to Buffalo and the Sabres. Miller isn't an idiot, and he's not going to all of a sudden demand a trade to a California hockey team all because his girlfriend lives out there. He's the defintion of a professional, and I don't think him getting a little taste of Hollywood is going to change that.
Personally I am getting a kick out of all this attention he is getting. Getting interviewed by Ryan Seacrest, appearing in tabloids, it's just really funny to me because he is the last guy you would expect to see getting this kind of attention. It's funny for Buffalonians because he's been a celebrity here for a while now, but now that the whole world is watching him, more people want a piece of him and a peek into his private life.
I think he's handling it very well, which shouldn't surprise anyone because he has always been such a class act. I think he appreciates his privacy and never wanted to live the "Hollywood life", but he is acknowledging the attention that the Olympics is bringing him and he's doing it gracefully.
Here is a really good read from Pucky Daddy about how Ryan is handling all the media attention:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_d ... nhl,224506If anything, it's refreshing to see Miller getting all this attention other than Crosby. He's a good representative of hockey; modest, hardworking, professional, and smart. And that fact that he's American could go a long way.
A few weeks after the Olympics have wrapped up, I don't think we'll have to worry about paparazzi chasing him in Wegmans or him grazing the coveres of tabloids exploiting his romantic life. All this national attention may be short lived, so I think we should enjoy the fact that the rest of the world is getting a chance to appreciate Ryan Miller too.
Sorry this is kind of a long-winded post, and it wasn't really directed toward anyone in this thread (I know most people were just joking around), it's just that I've read and heard other people talking about Miller's recent celebrity and people are concerned he's going to want to go all "Hollywood" on us and maybe lose focus on the Sabres. I just don't think that's going to be the case. We Buffalonians know Ryan is better than that.
