The St. Pete Times reported on a hit and run accident that killed a man riding his bicycle home from his job washing dishes at a restaurant. Some internet e-thug posted the following comment :

Quote:
A man who is working as a dishwasher at the Crab Shack at the age of 48 is surely better off dead.

Today, the paper responded with a full obit story memorializing the deceased man, partially because of the asinine comment.

I thought this was awesome.

The St. Pete Times and the San Jose Mercury news overshadow the NY and LA times in my opinion for journalistic integrity.

Good for them.

Good thing, fuck internet trolls just trying to stir the pot with crap like that.

A man died because of a hit n run. Respect that.

Well, I now like the St. Pete Times. Reminds me of how the New York Times never refers to anybody by anything other than his/her actual name, with a Mr., Miss, or Mrs. to boot.

Indeed. Their exposes on Scientology that they do are very well done.

They do politics just about as impartially as anyone. I wish they were my local paper. :(
