Hi guys. We've been looking for a new puppy and found this husky/great dane mix...I know....odd. Well I don't know the story on the people we got him from but he's real skinny and seems weak. Only had him home for a few hours, real mellow and sweet. Just seems he hasn't been eating well. Kind of lack luster a bit though my wife said he was playing a lot when she went and got him. Just worried about him and hoping that adding some meat and what not to his diet will fatten him up. He's 15 weeks old and man his paws are huge. I have no idea what to expect with this kind of mix when it comes to size. I'll get some pics up soon.

Feed him some hi-quality food w/o by products, and do it gradually, as his stomach is shrunken(maybe one cup-3x/day if he's like 40 lbs at first). Don't give him human food(especially meat). Call your vet, they will gladly give you advice.

Yay puppies! You could have the giantest sled dog ever. You have a young child right? Get a harness for the dog and hitch it to a snow tube. Used to do this with my dog in our yard...great fun. Just gotta make sure you don't run into the back of the doggie when he stops. :P

Puppy food for up to about 9 months. Then something like Blue Buffalo or Chef Michael's canine creations (Blue Buffalo is gonna be at PetSmart or PetCo, the Chef Michaels stuff is usually at the grocery store). Both of their main ingredients are either beef or chicken, followed by a few other good ingredients, including fatty mixes, and then it'll have your corn meal and all that crap. My girlfriend's dog absolutely loves Chef Michaels, but can't stand Blue Buffalo. (Side note: I can't stand that dog, but it doesn't mean he should have a bad diet...)

I hope you have an absolutely gigantic back yard.

I had a great Dane / Pit Bull and .75 acres fenced in was barely enough.
He ended up weighing in around 190 lbs.

i don't know that meat will put weight on him too fast...look for things with lots of carbs. meat will take a long time and a lot of it, because his metabolism will be high and he'll burn through protein pretty fast.

No no no, I'm saying puppy food is packed with carbs. As they start slowing down in their growth, it's safer to switch them so they don't put on weight so fast their bones can't support it. After that, a higher protein diet is better.

My yard isn't very big but we have the mountains right here and we tend to go up there and let our husky run free each weekend. When you get out where no people are they can just run and run. I'm hoping he takes after his mom who is about 60 pounds.

His name is Jasper but he isn't responding to it so I'm thinking about changing it. I have two that came to mind: Han and Deebo. Any suggestions?

My huge Dane/Pit was named Bo...it was a fitting name.
