A friend on Facebook posted this this morning. It made me want to punch kittens.

Wow, it's been 30 years .... I was only 3 but you left an everlasting impression on me. Imagine is my absolute favorite song ... RIP John Lennon ... you left us too soon!

lol. I was four when Kurt Cobain died (which makes me feel just a tad young in comparison). His death was one of the first major events that I can remember happening in the news, but that does not = everlasting impression.

John Lennon has always come off as really pretentious to me, anyway... I felt justified in feeling that way when I researched the guy. I pretty much judge people by how they treat their children/what their children say about them, sooooo...

Loved his music but honestly, as a person I don't know much about him. He's a pop icon and unless it's a rare case, I tend not to pay much attention to those kind of people.

I don't judge this person for saying that Lennon's work had an impression on her. Plenty of artists are influenced by the work of those long dead.

I just find it laughable that anyone could have an impression ON A 3 YEAR OLD. She rambled more this morning about how his murder 'affected her'. How? Did she eat less baby food that day or something?

Please.

Maybe baby constipation? Nipple rejection due to stress? Depression resulting in hair loss and diaper rash?

SRV died before I was born so he left no impression on me then, now is a different story.

But when you're three, how could someone leave an impression on you that you could even remember?

I bet she burned her diaper and flung poo at everyone that walked by...

Baby: "BLAH WAHHHH, BOO BOO WAHH!!"

Grown up translation: "FUCK YOU, LENNON IS DEAD!!!

I'm sorry to derail a thread, but this shit is epic...

Made me actually laugh out loud at my computer, and leave my parents questioning my sanity.

3 year olds can talk and they can walk and they don't all need diapers.

I think I was potty trained before I was three, I know I was talking and walking though.

Exactly.

Three-year-olds have the capacity to be deeply affected by circumstances and/or events in their lives; I was. However, that John Lennon was someone she did not know would definitely have precluded that, I think. Death itself is too abstract for children any younger than 4-5 to really grasp, and the fact that he was not someone she could have personally known just adds to that.
