I heard a cool fact on NPR about this...if all 7 billion of us stood shoulder-to-shoulder, the mass of humanity would fill an area the size of the city of Los Angeles.

I was actually surprised how little physical space we occupy.

It would be amazing how many of us our planet could actually support, if we all were herdable like sheep. 7 billion in an area the size of LA? Couldn't we support that easy with all the extra space? This isn't counting, obviously, the fact that 7 billion people in one area is illogical, impractical and generally inconceivable.
