Why do people that have so much going for them end up trying to kill themselves.

It's depressing.

Artie Lange is the Jim Belushi of the current generation. I don't mean he's as talented as Belushi, I just mean a brilliant comic who's self destructiveness cuts their careers short.

Are there two people named Artie lange...because the guy i'm familiar with doesnt really deserve such glowing praise as "A Brilliant comic" or "Having so much going for him."

I guess I've missed a lot, but isnt he just some stern/sandler sidekick? Nothing i've ever seen from him has been impressive, in fact i'd say him stabbing himself 9 times is the most impressive thing i've seen/heard of him doing.

[Sam and Mitch have learned that they are half-brothers]
Mitch: Hey, hey! Hey, you remember in 5th grade when I was under the monkey bars and I sneaked a peek at your sister's underwear? Remember that? Hey, no no! I was sneaking a peek at my *own* sister's underwear!
Sam: That's right! Yeah, and then remember in the 12th grade, you had sex with her?
Mitch: [short awkward silence] Okay, enough reminiscing.

Right? Brutal. I'm wondering if he was on some serious drugs when this happened.

I know that it wouldn't be a surprise.

I'm saying this because I'm curious as to whether it's actual full blown depression or as a direct result of the stuff he was taking.

What is he made of metal? How does he not die from that? Very sad, but damn. I'm not saying that he should have died or something like that, it's just very unlikely.

You mean John Belushi?

this is going to come off douchy and mean but how bad to do you suck at killing yourself if you stab yourself 9 times and still screwed up? granted most people dont get a lot of practice, if any, before hand but what the hell?

Yea, he meant John. I love John Belushi and even I make that mistake. It's a dumb, but common, one.

Possibly Psychotic; whether mental, emotional, or drug induced. I had one of my clients attempt to poke his own eye out once while floridly psychotic...

2 things:

1. artie has made his love for heroin VERY public. it wouldnt shock me if this was the sole reason, BUT...

2. a man can only take being a punching bag for so long. lets be honest, he relishes his role as a loser, but i wouldnt be surprised if he finally had enough.
