I live like 10 minutes from Burt Dam now, Pat. I know you can fish steelies there all winter. For the next few days, the creek should be ice-free, high, and stained just enough(if it gets warm enough). I even got my own little creek up the road that in the spring is a quality stream that my pops showed me. It used to be a hot-spot back in his day. Still is.
You may also be getting some bullheads in not too many weeks if this weather sticks around.

Ya, but they're so easy to get in the spring. They'll bite Rapala's all day long. When they finally start to get finicky, hit 'em with the REAL buck-tail jig. My pops had some old ones that I tried which caught one first cast every time. Too bad there was only 4(and that stream jigging for walleyes don't last long;snags). They were buck-tails, but kind of feathered out. Yellow, and red eye I believe. Best(most convincing) lure I've ever thrown.
