Ok, so here's the deal. I get my annual phone upgrade coming up in February. We are adding a data plan to our contract which means I get to upgrade to a smart phone. So now I have to choose what smartphone to go with. I've been asking my friends who have balckberrys, iphones, and droids all day to try to get an opinion. Now the droid seems to get fantastic reviews everywhere. I have verizon, so I'm not sure if getting the new iphone would be risky because it's new to verizon. I haven't heard anything spectacular about the blackberry. I think right now my list looks like this:
1)Droid Incredible/ Droid X
2)iPhone 4
3)Any sort of Blackberry

If anybody has any insight or reviews of their own on any of these of phones I would appreciate your input. If I want the iPhone I need to know by the 3rd of February. If it's one of the others, I don't need to decide by the 12th.

My vote is the iPhone.

Mike will tell you that Android cures cancer.

Blackberries blow goats.

Go play with them at stores, see which one suits you better.

iPhone, Blackberries suck and iPhones rock my socks.

Play with them, you may like Android better than iPhone.

i have the X. its a wonderful phone. the OS is snappy, and easy to learn, everything works flawlessly. the touchscreen is beautiful and very responsive. i am absolutely in love with my X.

however. as ive stroked off this phone many many times, all signs point to the new HTC thunderbolt as being the BMOC, at least for verizon. the thunderbolt is due out feb 24th, its basically an updated HTC evo 4g with more options and 4g capabilities. if anyone paid attention, many named the EVO the best phone on the market.

im not an iphone fan myself, i find the OS clunky and annoying. but i appear to be the minority. the screen is smaller, but that doesnt mean its bad. in fact its a great touchscreen.

the incredible is a great phone, but its not up to par with any of these other phones. when i played with an incredible, i felt like it was cheap and just not close to other phones.

the blackberry monaco is rumoured, but nothing official. its basically a storm 3. as a former storm user.. the storms nice, but very limited. apps are few and far between.

i'd say go with the thunderbolt or X. thats my opinion.

oh, and my android cured cancer.

My Blackberry does not, in fact, blow goats.

oh! i do have a shout out for my storm. a few nights ago, i got bored, turned it on, and turned into a filming submarine. i put it in a sandwich bag and threw it in my aquarium with the video running. it worked.

though the view was no different then looking into an aquarium.

but i had fun none the less!

Hmm. My cousin says he likes his droid but thinks iphone would be a great choice too.
So we've got
iPhone: 2
Droid: 2 (kinda)
Blackberry: 1
and some very happy goats.

Now keep in mind I've been rocking old flip phones my whole life. The closest I've come to a fancy phone is a chocolate 3. Which broke down and I am now on a 4,000 year old (rough estimate) samsung flip phone. So this is sort of a big step up for me. haha. So i guess I'm looking for the one that would make for the smoothest transition.

iPhone.

Go play with one and some of the other phones you're considering, and I won't need to type an explanation. Proof is in the pudding.

I have a Blackberry which I love, but I really want an iPhone. But I have Sprint. First world problems, man.

Blackberries are nice when you first get them, but they get slow and outdated too quickly.

My Blackberry is over 2 years old and blows goats. But an iPhone is going to be on my way as soon as I can afford it. My thing is 16gb or 32gb $199 or $299 for it do I want to spend?

Um...a 2 year old iPhone isn't that great either.

Well it started to screw up and freeze at like a year old, if that.

i hate apple. droids are nice.

in reality, all apple products do not suit me. i don't like fixed memory, i don't like units that only play "their" format (.m4a, anyone?), and most of all, and perhaps the source of my bias, i don't find them user friendly. i had an ipod and tried an iphone and hated them both because they just didn't work for me and i couldn't get a flow. i don't have a smartphone, but my friend has both an iphone (work) and a droid (personal) and the droid is really easy for me to use and figure out.

i do use an old iphone for emergency purposes. it has no sim card and can call 911. so if im out on a lake and dont wanna bring my phone in case it gets wet, but still wanna be able to call for help if needed, i bring the old iphone with. better to be over prepared, then under.

i hear ya, pat, on the ipod thing too. i hated my ipods, i went through 3 before i finally said, fuck this, and went to a zune. zune is SO much more simple. my ipods fucked up constantly.

My younger brother got an iPhone yesterday, he had been deciding between a Blackberry, LG Quantum or Pantech Laser (we're on AT&T) but the guy at the store talked him into an iPhone. My brother claims that he hates it, but I think he's frustrated because he can't connect to the wi-fi at our house because he doesn't know the password, and neither do I. Well, I could figure it out if I was at home, but I probably won't be going home until the end of the month.

In the meantime though he has to deal with it.
