Four out of five suspects arrested in connection with the publicly witnessed, hours-long gang rape of a 15-year-old girl outside of her California high school's homecoming dance face charges that could send them to prison for life, police said.

http://www.abcnews.go.com/WN/police-arr ... id=8935918

So what do you think about this? The witnesses there did nothing while this poor 1 year old was getting rape by 5 older guys.

This is unbelievable how people could just watch.

When I heard of it I was still shocked, but when I found out it was a 15 year old girl, I was enraged.

When there are large groups of people witnessing something, the less likely people will intervene/try to help. There have been psychological studies on this. I think what it boils down to is that everyone just assumes that someone else will intervene.

That's a horrible, horrible story.

........

Is there even anything to say?

The media should have saved their ridiculous crucifixion of the kids on the Duke lacrosse team a few years ago for these kids. I never pass judgment on these things until after they're finished because not only is the media insane with guilty-till-proven-innocent-and-then-some (and they persuade almost everybody, holy crap), but a lot of facts only come out in court... But I am this time. It's too clear not to.

That beautiful girl... I would love to see those kids locked up for life.

As for the bystander effect, it... exists and is widely known. People criticize those involved in it all the time, but when put in the same position, their behavior is obviously the same, or there would be no bystander effect to speak of. It's a very rare person that breaks that mold; rather than condemning those who do not, those who do ought to be praised.

Well, that's horrible but I'm not too shocked.

Richmond, Ca. pretty much exists to make Oakland look good and Oakland isn't a place I'd drive around at night.

The named suspects so far are Ortega and Rodriguez eh?

Good thing Richmond is a sanctuary city.

I'm not going to comment until I know whether or not they're citizens.

But damn...

Ms Beebe, I ended up using the wrong word there, but have since changed that word to the right one.

I'm so sorry to hear about you, and it is the most disgusting thing to ever to do someone else.

Here in NC they are trying to release 20 or more convicts convicted with life sentences from the mid 70's when it used to be 80 years for life, but now only a 40 year sentence. And many of those people have been charged with murder, rape, and other crimes to get life in prison. And those are people I hope never make it back to the streets again.

Wow, that was gut wrenching. I'm so sorry you had to endure that, I can't even comprehend some of what happened... You're stronger than you'll ever know. It's so amazing that you've taken a positive outlook on the incident, after all those years. I quote The Shawshank Redemption: "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."

I've always been on the fence about the death penalty, but honestly I hate child molesters and rapists...I think they deserve to be tortured. I hope these guys get life in prison so they can live the rest of their lives getting sodomized in jail.

I have to ask where were the parents? Not in this particular instance, but where have they been in years before? There is no respectful upbringing. WTF is this country coming to? I understand she was waiting for a ride, but 15 year-olds? Parents are non-existent and non-accountable any more. And a crowd stood around and cheered...for two hours? And the security is blamed? WTF! Those people who blamed security would be the same ones who cry brutality if one of the pieces of shit got the fuck beat out of him by security. Now the girl is scarred for life. Hope those shitbags get violated every day in prison. Fuckin gang brutality....lets hear the rap "artists" sell a few more kill, rape, and pillage lyrics........vent over.... WTF

God bless to the victim in this horrid crime. Justice may come, but for her, it will never be the same. God give her strength. All I can say is castrate these fucking bastards. Its not safe for women in this country anymore. I plead with everyone not to take for granted that your loved ones, friends or even strangers will be safe. I do not let my mom, girlfriend and any friend that is female put themselves in comprising situations if I can help it.
Its now gentlemen, its now we who must protect not only the women of our community, but the very way of life we grew up to live in. I would pray all you men feel the same way.
