Political thread sucks. People don't respect each other and the mods could give two shits. It gets dirty in there and should at the very least be policed better. As a side note, mods active in the forum should fall under the same rules as the peasants, respect each other and no name calling, bashing etc. They should be subject to banning just like the rest of us. All in all I think it's much better not to have one and keep unneeded bull off this site.

I like Thar Be Dragons. I still don't like the Politics sub-forum for all the reasons I posted in said forum weeks ago, but I like that we have a music forum now.

My one wish for the music forum is to limit hipster elitist band bashing and turn it into a community where we can share bands we like, discuss the classics, and report on fun rumors of who's touring with who.

I would dispute that the mods 'could give two shits' about the political forum. That's a tougher one to moderate by nature, simply because going in you have people entrenched in their opinions who don't want to change.

There's been some bad times in there, for sure, but over the last couple of months, some of the people that were intentionally antagonizing or causing problems have stopped going in there, or left the site completely. The more recent discussions have been fairly civil. Look at XC and I. We're about as close to polar opposites on the political spectrum as you can get, and although we've gotten into in there, it doesn't spill out everywhere else.

It's buried another level deeper that it was before. If people don't like / aren't interested in those discussions, just avoid it altogether. Based on XC's actions on hiding it to begin with, I think it's safe to say that if it got out of hand again it would be gone for good. I wouldn't expect that to happen.
