Yeah, I would consider a terrier in an apartment, but would probably end up getting a cat or two.

The whole pets thing is dependent upon what any future children want, really. I'd be up for pretty much anything, as long as they take care of them. I got a rabbit and a hamster when I was four and did well with both. Dogs will happen regardless of anything else, though.

I have some names for pets already. Oliver for a tarantula, Rhythm and Jackson for dogs (female and male)... Had the name Pappitedo picked out for a female cat for a few years before my father got me a kitten randomly one day and Jericho for a dog for a while before I finally got one (though now he's really the entire family's lol; we've had him five years). Anyway... rambling due to tired.

I've preferred dogs because no matter what they will want to be pet. And love you always, Cats are different as if they don't want you around, well they'll simply just leave.

I like big dogs and animals more, Cats are neat and all, but I just like large animals.

Dogs are nice, but they seem really needy. They slobber & stink more often than not. Other people's dogs are fine. Cats are cool...they sleep a lot & are pretty to look at. 8-) I think they are generally smarter than dogs too. Yes, I grew up with both dogs and cats. Some were fantastic, others not so much. My favorites were Bonnie & Clyde. The neighbors' lab had them "trapped" under the car. Bonnie kept his attention while Clyde dashed out behind him to try to hamstring him. Laughed my butt off! Dumb dog ran home after that.

yeah, but maine coons can be that typical stuck up long haired cat. I'm all about the common short hair tabby.

For me at least I would say my cats are about a masculine as you can get.. My first cat Agro is around 18-20 pounds and is jet black and looks and acts like a rabid panther.. he is the meanest cat you can come around ... Then my other cat Olaf is a norwegian forest cat who is equally huge. he isnt mean or anything my his paws feel like little spiky hammers when he jumps on you. so i think i picked manly cats. Plus Agro has chased off a German Sheppard before.. pretty bad ass.

I have two cats and yes they are more for women. I never had a dog but it seems to me they are a lot of work.

dogs are prisoners.
dogs can kill or hurt people. especially small kids . a dog can be ur best friend , for one moment he can turn to a monster. sometimes too loud, dirty and annoying. more expensive than cats.

cats keep themselves clean. not dangerous. cute. more independent and free (especially on the countryside)

I definitely prefer cats. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against dogs, I just prefer the cuteness of a cat to the dominance of a dog.

Dogs require too much maintenance and attention for my lifestyle.

As for which is more feminine? Yeah, probably cats. Things might be-a-changin' though.

I think a lot of people tend to like dogs because the tail wagging provides a very clear indication of appreciation. Personally I think cats are friendlier and more appreciative of attention, they just show it in far subtler ways.

Cats don't like us; they tolerate us. If they were any larger, they'd kill and eat us.

I've met one all-around awesome cat in my lifetime, and he was a pet of my family's for thirteen years until he died in May. I probably won't meet any more awesome cats, though my family has acquired another since I last saw them, and maybe she is awesome. The awesomeness level of cats is greatly correlated with whether or not they're allowed outside, actually, in my experience. All the ones I've known that were outside on a regular basis with more than a suburban lawn to roam have been extremely chill and great animals to own. The ones not allowed outside have all been neurotic with no exceptions. lol.
