Nope. SRV is my all time favorite guitar player. And no one can compare to how good he was.
no one said anything wrong about being your favorite, but to say he was WAY more talented than satriani, clapton, rhoades, tony iommi, and john petrucci.
I think he was. Talent goes a long way and he had it. He might not have been the best at music theory like most of those guys were, but he was very talented.
Never once played the same version of a song live. Most of his albums were done in one take without any overdubs, and was just a very powerful performer. He had more talent in his hand than most people do in their entire body.
Just because he doesn't play a more classical style he isn't as talented as those guys you listed? He could play with the best guitar players of his time and take most of them down with just one note instead of 294734947. Talent isn't about playing fast or with a thousand notes. It's about making a song their own and playing it to where it touches the inner strings of a heart. He sure did that more often than not.
Plus the debate of of "best" guitarist sucks. Don't argue it because neither one of us will come to an agreement on anything because we both have our favorites and who we think is the best.
I think SRV is the best, but I still love Rhodes, Page, Clapton, King, King, Van Halen, Iommi, Gilbert, and plenty more.
and Mike, Rap isn't music, something with instruments is.

As I said in the GDT, the call on Rivet was horseshit. The Bruins player was holding onto Rivet's stick like it was the last fucking raft on the Titanic.
