Then why do you listen to rock?

All rock is based or came from Blues musicians. And Boring blues, there is multiple variations of Blues. SRV was by far not boring, he played hard, fast, loud, raw Texas Blues.

If that is boring, YOU have no taste in music.

What I dont understand from this thread, is how, in this day and age, people are even exposed to music they dont like. I mean, unless you're trapped somewhere with a radio playing. For example, I have no freaking clue what nickelback sounds like, no idea if i'd like them or not. I've never been forced to listen to their stuff, and i've never had a friend say "Oh man you've got to check out this album"...so, i've never heard them.

Question to you guys who hate them...how did you even hear them enough to know that you hate all their music?

Sometimes you gotta give stuff a chance. Then you can actually say it sucks ass.

"we used to take guys like you out back and beat em with a hose. now you got your god damned unions!"

i went to a show this past week to see a band that alot of people would make fun of me for seeing. but i used to love them back when i was 17, and it was like a time warp to 2002 again. my friend and i were kids again. minus the fact i did a gauntlet before hand and drank 20 beers in an hour and a half. i was fucking right ripped.

taking back sunday.

The only band of that genre I've ever liked. I'd go see them live.

In 50 years, people will still be listening to Queen. Those same people will be wiping their asses with the pamphlets from all the unsold Nickelback albums.

Hold music on phones, radios at car service centers and gas stations, shitty television sound tracks... whatever. There's exposure to music everywhere.

Nope. SRV is my all time favorite guitar player. And no one can compare to how good he was.

Sorry, I've never heard a cover of Hendrix that made me like it more then when Hendrix wrote it/played it, except for SRV's versions of his songs.

NO ONE has EVER even come REMOTELY close to putting in the passion and emotion of what Stevie Played.

Don't like my taste in guitar players, well you're not changing my mind, it's been made for the past 10 years on that subject.

I love other guitar players too, but no one can compare to Stevie.

I don't support them, I've never bought anything Nickleback related.

I said I like them, not my favorite and not my worst.

What's wrong with liking music?

no one said anything wrong about being your favorite, but to say he was WAY more talented than satriani, clapton, rhoades, tony iommi, and john petrucci.

I'm bewildered by the fact that a human being who likes Hendrix and SRV and Nickelback exists. This Earth gets more strange every day.

I think he was. Talent goes a long way and he had it. He might not have been the best at music theory like most of those guys were, but he was very talented.

Never once played the same version of a song live. Most of his albums were done in one take without any overdubs, and was just a very powerful performer. He had more talent in his hand than most people do in their entire body.

Just because he doesn't play a more classical style he isn't as talented as those guys you listed? He could play with the best guitar players of his time and take most of them down with just one note instead of 294734947. Talent isn't about playing fast or with a thousand notes. It's about making a song their own and playing it to where it touches the inner strings of a heart. He sure did that more often than not.

Plus the debate of of "best" guitarist sucks. Don't argue it because neither one of us will come to an agreement on anything because we both have our favorites and who we think is the best.

I think SRV is the best, but I still love Rhodes, Page, Clapton, King, King, Van Halen, Iommi, Gilbert, and plenty more.

and Mike, Rap isn't music, something with instruments is.

who whoa whoa butthurt red herring alert.

i like stevie ray vaughn, i think he's awesome. i am not arguing the best guitarist at all, there's no point to that. i was arguing that you think he's the only one in his league- there is no one on the planet that will agree to that.

you don't need to define talent to me, guy. you need to learn to look at the argument and go with it instead of changing it.

Can we please just go back to how much they suck and how little I wish to hear them play on Smacksgiving. If I have to listen to them I will projectile vomit, sending whiskey, beer, and thanksgiving goodness all over my living room. I do not want that any time of the year, especially during my favorite meal/holiday. I am already upset about this so can we stop arguing and treat this as some type of group therapy.
