Interesting...and it makes sense, hops and cannabis are in sort of 'sister' genera within the same family. They share a good deal of genetic background and properties.

Nice dude, what variety? What do you do with it? Did you start from a rhizome? I've been pondering setting something up myself, I love to grow my own plants whenever possible, and have recently started brewing beer, it only seems natural to grow my own hops.

I have three varieties growing and get various levels of success with each. The ones I have are Nugget, then two local strands, Mt Hood and Willamette (two places you'd be very familiar with if you lived in Oregon). I got rhizome "starts" for lack of a better word about 3 years ago. As far as i know, there is no way to grow them from seeds. They're perennials, so every year I just cut back the old vines and train the new ones up my fence and onto lines I have that go from the fence top to the gutters of my house. I have gotten roughly an ounce of two of the three strands each year.

What do I use them for? The first year I actually sent my harvest to Crosscheck. The second year I used them in a failed batch of beer I fucked up. I still have last year's hops in my freezer ready for my next attempt at brewing.

They're not that tough for me to grow, but I live in the right climate. You need a lot of sun, but also a lot of water to grow them. On dry sunny days, I have to water them twice a day to keep from drying out. But usually we get a lot of damp wet days here, and that makes it not too hard to grow hops.

Guess the lack of face hair on Asians makes up for the out of control crotch hair.
