I make $7.25 and have to deal with food and people, which I don't care for anymore.

I don't care to make minumum wage, just not at a fast food restaurant anymore.

Managers at places like that are always assholes because they're stuck there for the rest of their lives (or in an equally shitty position) and take it out on the young kids who have potential.

This is what I do. I'm an overnight waiter most of the time, but I do some dinners.
The Pros: I only work 3 nights a week generally, and still make enough to pay for my apartment and college.

The Cons: You really start to hate humankind and people in general. I went into this job an optimist and I am generally a pessimist now, at least when it comes to people. I am going to be honest in saying I hate this job more than I have ever hated anything in my life. The good pay for such a small amount of hours is the only thing keeping me coming back.

I'm not trying to scare you. I'm just warning you from my experience as a server. If your someone who doesn't like to work alot of hours and you value your free time over your soul, this is the job for you. ;)

Yes, to be tortured.

Any ideas?

well, while physical violence doesnt sound appealing, if you really want to torture me it would be something along the lines of trapping me in a coffin filled with insects, in the dark, with celine dion blasting so loud I cant even think.

I was a hostess at Red Lobster. Got really tired of people being so rude all the time. Doesn't help when you have managers and servers bitching at you, too.

I get to be a waitress to old people at my job. :P

I've considered applying to be on the waitstaff of a restaurant. I probably will at some point, and definitely will in this area if I stay here next summer as I'm leaning toward doing (it's either that or Albany, because the rest of my family will have moved back to that area by that point in time; I have friends here and nothing there). I think I'd be good at it. I'm an incredibly even-tempered person and can easily deal with fussy, rude people with a smile on my face and no problem at all, without even having to fake not being bothered (am an extreme Type B personality, and extreme phlegmatic temperament). I put up with it regularly at the job I already have back home, especially when the residents and/or my coworkers are in bad moods. Something goes wrong almost every day, and when it does, I'll typically be the only calm one not letting it affect me while everyone else in the kitchen is busy snapping at each other, which gets interesting sometimes. :P

Haha, you're not scaring me... Believe me, I deal with th nastiest people at my job. I've been threatened so many times. It used to sort of rattle me, but I've sort of become immune to it where I don't care. I just don't take shit from people anymore.

I guess the good thing about my job is that I've learned to work under high pressure situations where it's absolutely chaotic busy at times, and I've learned to deal with inconsiderate, rude, and nasty people.

I do like the fact that you get more bang for your buck without working a lot of shifts. At my job I work so much and my paycheck is less than stellar to say the least. At least when you work for tips, you're going home with cash in your pocket.

I have a job in a hot deli at a grocery store and I don't mind it especially getting paid minimum wage at 10.25 an hour but I hate dealing with people. Why do some people have to be so rude, stupid, dumb, retarded and act like total douchebags??

Wow, even in USD it is 10.18 an hour.

That's before taxes and paying GST and PST on everything...it's not magic "extra" money ;)

Came home today in tears... Fuck that place. I'm quitting. All the managers ganged up on me when I confronted them and were trying to conceive me into this person that they know I'm not. All I wanted was to have a little extra time to myself so I could study for my exams and they are acting like I am trying to pull a fast one on them.

There was one manager who was trying to defend me and help me out...but next week is her last week because they're making her transfer because they think she plays favorites. When all she really does is try to work with her employees and accomodate them as much as she can. She was the only decent manager who seemed to care about her employees, whereas everyone else is just some 20-something kid on a fucking power trip.

I'm so upset that they all ganged up on me like that after being the type of employee I was for the past 2 years. I was a good employee and all I wanted was some extra time around finals to study. I deserve better than that, but it's just obvious that they don't care... It's a type of job where the employees are basically like cattle. Employees are constantly coming and going, and I thought they would recognize the fact that I was a hard worker for them for two years. Makes me wonder why I stayed there for so long.

Yeah... I might go in tomorrow to put in my two weeks, or I sort of just want to be like, "Ehh fuck you...I'm not coming in AT ALL." I just hope I can find a job. My parents said they would help me out until I find one, but I don't want to rely on that because I just want to make as much money as possible so I can finally move out and get my own apartment.

My parents are friends with someone who owns a restaurant downtown, so I'm hoping they can get me a job there. My cousin also works at a restaurant in Williamsville... Just hoping I can find something quick. Last year I took school leave, and it SUCKED not having any money coming in.

I'd make sure I have another job lined up so you'll have an income, and then on a day when it's real busy and they really need you screw them over and don't show up.
