I don't understand why that one black girl tried out for american idol when she wants to be the first black country star. I would think Nashville Star would be a better fit. I know she's in the top 24.

This season, all ETC's rankings will be on a first name basis, in the third person, while drinking a beer.

1. Lilly – She absolutely killed it. Just friggin’ killed it. ETC loved everything about her performance – the voice, the song, the authenticity, the guitar, everything. Fantastic.

2. Siobhan – After a very rough opening that was too deep for her range, she just got lost in the song and killed the higher registry. Haunting and powerful.

3. Crystal – Really tough song, but she pulled it off. Great harp/guitar combo, and very good vocals. A real pro. Bonus points for whitening those dark yellow teeth, too.

4. Katelyn – Outstanding vocals and confidence on stage. A bit too made up – like Olivia’s Sandy doing the “bad girl” number in “Grease” – but very cute and very talented.

5. Didi – Not sure why the judges slammed her, because ETC thought she was very original, gave a very good vocal, and looked friggin’ HOT! Of course, we all know Simon hates blondes, so his attack was predictable. Did ETC mention she’s HOT?

6. Katie- Her voice and tone reminds me a lot of Carrie’s. I agree that she’s too cutesy to pull off a vamp song, and there were times she seemed to be forcing it vocally. Still, huge chops on that girl, and she’ll be back for sure.

7. Michelle – Took on a gigantic song, and sang it nicely enough, but a bit too safe and restrained. Very polished…maybe too corporate.

8. Janell – Looked good enough, sounded good enough, but very vanilla. She’s probably on the bubble.

9. Lacey – Idiotic song choice (did she not see what happened to Taylor Swift when she tried to sing Stevie Nix?) that really came back to bite her. She’s on the bubble, but she’s so damn likable ETC says she stays.

10. Ashley – Woefully boring song with a bad arrangement and worse performance. Only saving grace is she has looks and style, but that was really bad. She might just be gone, and if so she deserved it.

11. Paige – Speaking of wrecks, that was brutal. Awful song choice, worse arrangement, bad vocals, and terrible energy. The judges transparent pimping will not be enough – this girl is toast.

12. Haeley – WTF was that? LOL!! Retarded outfit, irritating lisp, and I actually think I heard some yodeling at one point. Ouch. I was embarrassed for her, and if America has a heart they will euthanize her from the show at once. Sweet girl, but she’s gotta go.

One more point: Though ETC bashed her ruthlessly in Hollywood week, Kara was easily the best judge of the night tonight. She was the true pro we hoped she’d be when they signed her last year, got to the point, and ETC agreed with everything she said. The “BITCH” line was hilarious, too! Cheers to Kara!

Pretty good re-cap Ken. I was hoping you would have done one for the guys ;)

I usually have some early favorites, but this year is starting off on a very bad note.

A few a the girls have good voices, but there's either something really weird about them or they're okay one night and then they suck the next week. I think Siobhan could knock it out of the park, but my God, her attire is a train wreck as is her non-existent personality. Didi seems to have the full package, but she's an emotional basket case. Chrystal definitely has some talent in a Tracy Chapman/PigPen kind of way. From what we've seen so far, I'd have to go with Lilly.

The guys....

Michael Lynche has a great big voice, but I think he's too one dimensional. Andrew Garcia, I dunno. They seemed to favor him at first and now they're throwing him under the bus. Tim Urban? WTH? I think the only reason he stayed is because he's the male pick at Vote For The Worst (Haley is it for the girls). Casey James still reminds me too much of Bucky from Season 5 and needs a shower. At least he sang something outside of the country genre last night which I think may have helped him. Jermaine Sellers is a tool. I have a gut feeling that Lee DeWyze guy (who we barely saw till last week) may have the most potential.

These folks are really going to have to step it up because it's been a walking disaster thus far.

all these performances seem boring, and cliche. the first girl going a capella and taking a risk, then two more i need coffee.

i liked the that really Mike Lynche, aaron kelly, and Tim urban in that order.

Todrick needs to try out for broadway, they make a show for that.
I'd say Alex Lambert should get the ax. or that first guy.
