I always wonder how much energy the body expends keeping warm. Certainly that could account for Northerners generally being thinner. I always noticed that if I'm outside for an extended period of time, I'm always more tired if it's been cold. |

One thing I dislike is the message that being obese is all right... I don't mind the whole "these women are beautiful, too" part of it, but the part that it's perfectly acceptable purely because it has become normal? Absolutely not. It's even worse than smoking, and in glossing over it the health risks are completely ignored. Obesity is beautiful, if you'd like to die at age fifty-three of a heart attack. When I was a kid, I thought that Augustus on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was really chubby, and he truly was when that movie was filmed in the '70s and still was when I was a child. I watched that movie again recently and couldn't believe how not-fat-at-all he looked compared to when I was little, though he was supposed to be the token chubby kid. Shouldn't have changed since then. |

Sure, people say "full bodied" women, or women with curves is ok...because it is. And it's perfectly normal. Obese is not. Full figured: ![]() Obese: ![]() Subtle difference |

Or after working in the field when it's cold out, I just feel beat down whereas if it's warm I just ache a little from whatever I did. |

in addition: -Smoking is far more dangerous than being fat. -A fat ass , legs , arms isnt the problem. the belly fat is the dangerous one. |

There are other things you can smoke that are far less dangerous than being fat... but may indirectly make you become fat, due to the munchies. |

The definition of obese needs some updating too. I'm 6'2", 225 pounds. I'd like to move some of those pounds to other places, but that's a topic for another thread. I'm technically borderline obese by the standard definition, and frankly that's nonsense. Those of you that I've met in person can attest to that. |

Being obese from a young age is more dangerous than smoking from a young age, in terms of life expectancy. And if you've got fat everything else, you're gonna have a fat belly. I've never seen an obese person with a trim waist. |

We're the same weight despite a 7" height difference, which tells me you need to drink more beer and eat more wings. By the ETC definition, you're borderline anorexic! |

I've never seen an obese person with a trim waist. The key is earning the belly. Nothing worse than dessert jiggle fat on some pear shaped dude who doesn't drink beer. |

By the ETC definition, you're borderline anorexic! Trust me, I know. I've been fighting a cold for the last week, and I've lost about 10 pounds from where I normally am at. OJ and Nyquill just doesn't fill the void the way Labatt's Blue and a 20 spot of hot ones with extra bleu cheese does.... |

The whole Obese thing is actually a misleading fact. They go with the perfect BMI. Say someone is 6 foot and 220. Is that fat or obese. Most likely it is obese because that isn't the weight you should be being 6 foot tall, but is that person actually fat. They very well might not be because they are solid muscle. They are still big, but they are big from muscles. They whole obese thing in America is sometimes wrong. If I were to work out and gain 40 pounds and be 190 at my age I would be considered obese also, but I wouldn't be at all. They need to make it to morbidly obese as a problem, people who weigh well over 230or so is obese. |
