There is so much more freedom on these boards and There's barely anybody on the Sabres.com boards. Maybe one new topic per week.

My guess is you don't know the history of the old forums.sabres.com?

The thing is, we're all the diehards from the old Sabres' forums and when they made the switch, one of our mods set this up and we all mutinied.

I took a trip over to the new Flyers boards and they are the same way. I think they might have done the same thing as us, because to be honest there are like no posts and only like 5 active membes.. etc etc... I almost am willing to bet that they copied our idea for a second board

There are a ton of fan-run boards that I'll bet spiked in memberships after the change-over.

Ya Im sure the edmonton Oilers one did, I was a part of it before it went to strict Oilers, it was NHL in general then they switched... so maybe they spiked too, I just feel the NHL screwed the pooch on this one

It was fun, even when you couldn't swear...

This.

I found most teams had a core group of posters that abandoned ship after each and every 'migration'. The new board system and format is terrible, and it's not just Sabres fans that said fuck it and set off on their own.

Another sad commentary is that most of the alternative boards were setup quickly and without a ton of thought, yet they still look and run better than the debacle of KickApps.

i was (and am to an extent) involed with the forums as a member

main core of us(me and the sens fans, which i am not) jumped ship to thesensforums.com, where it feels like no one ever left

though, cross did an amazing job, even better than them

I hope the web traffic for all the newly fu--- I mean designed NHL sites drops through the floor.

Typical example of out-of-touch corporate meddlers dictating adjustments to something they don't use that is meant for people they cannot relate to.

Maybe I'm assuming a lot about the reason(s) for the horrible and user unfriendly web design, but I can't believe anybody with a clue had anything to do with that mess.

I was a member of the old, old boards, like since 2003 or something like that. With each "upgrade" it degraded, to the point of total frustration and disinterest. Cross stepped up and did something positive.

I still can't believe that ALL clubs (excluding Rangers) let this shit happen to their forums.

This board is really awesome + you can type BABCOCK without #!#...

The slowness of the Sabres.com boards was maddening.

So the Rags boards haven't changed, how was that so then?

I can't remember the specifics. They have changed to Kickapps (I believe), but the URL says something other than NHL. Maybe Viventi (PruchaNYR) can fill us in when she's around.

The Leafs boards have also vehemently opposed the new format. They have active Admins and OWNERS over there who are still working hard to get back what they had.

Calgary has completely refused to accept the new format and somehow went back to IPB. There is a lengthy thread in their "lounge" area commencing with the initial "downgrade." After feedback from forum members and inadequate action on the part of ............? they said screw it and someone, somehow went back to IPB.

There is a huge difference from forum to forum as far are hierarchy goes. For whatever reason, Sabres forums appear to be one of the few that had no Admins (just Mods and a Webmaster). That's about all I'll say. As you can tell, your same active Mods are now here (XC now Admin of this site in case anyone doesn't know that) and the old Webmaster isn't ;)

And to the original OP. Granted, there is a lot more freedom of expression here, but your Mods really do try to still keep topics where they belong, will not tolerate outrageous personal attacks (which there have been almost none of), and will intervene when necessary. Someone should tell the OP the Cardinal rule  Out of curiosity OP, who were you on the old site?

Kickapps are just the format of the boards - the new software for the site.
IPB (Invision Pro Boards) is the old one. The one that was interactive and 10 times better than KickApps.

There's a lot more to the Rangers situation than just the board migrations. I'll recount it when I have some time.
