Hey ghost fans! Tonight, Ghost Hunters Academy (spinoff of Ghost Hunters) is going to be at the Buffalo Central Station - I think that's what its called...the old abandoned, ominous looking train station. Don't know if its a good show or not...I haven't seen GHA yet because I think Steve Gonsalves is a TOOL, but if its in Buffalo, I'm in!

I've kicked around in that building a few times before.

Big and creepy yes, but someone should tell those producers that ghosts don't exist ;)

A few friends and I have gone into the Richardson Building, after dark and spent the night.

It would definitely qualify as a "ghost hunter's" paradise; having been a psychiatric institute during what may be termed a "bleak period" in the annals of psychiatric understanding and progress.

Exploring the sealed off area was definitely challenging and somewhat dangerous, owing to the structural damage to the floors and ceilings - One is liable to fall to their death or suffer an overhead collapse.

It's also very easy to get lost in the ominous darkness of the circuitous hallways, on the many levels - One must have a very good memory and a very good sense of direction.

Can't go in there all "messed up" and expect to manage the challenge. Though we did take "some refreshment" on the copper-plate south roof, just off the top floor, shortly before leaving.

The whole time there we made a point of staying to the walls, where there was greater support. The smell and decay were oppressive.

There were obvious signs of "squatting"...as well as "squatting"...if you get my drift? :D

...after many hours, all I came away with was a tear in my jeans, from snagging them atop the surrounding chain-link fence.

Great amount of history, though - For anyone interested in the design of institutional structures; especially one familiar with the architecture of asylums.

A recommended place to visit - But, not for anyone who is unfit or unobservant. It's also a trespass charge, if not a reckless endangerment charge, as well.

Gotta be really smart about it - Any idiot in the group gets hurt or killed, everyone goes down for the rap.

:D

time to ruin some fun....

few things. my buddy is in some paranormal investigation thingy. they go to peoples houses with equipment and shit. they always ask me to go, but then say no when i tell them my plan is to drink beer and get drunk. what else am i supposed to do in a basement of a 100 year old house?

ANYWAYS, he made me watch some shitty show on syfy where these people go to like a central american town, and go to ruins they claim is haunted. at one point, they record a cave on the towns site. they take the tape back and break it down. suddenly they claim to hear a spirit say "touch him" after they ask if there are any spirits down there. so... why the FUCK is a spirit in central america, where no one spoke english, speaking in clear english? yeah, bullshit. debunked.

secondly, people who claim they capture "orbs" in pictures. its not fucking orbs. its dust that catches the flash, that isnt in focus. it comes out in circles.

sorry. no such thing as ghosts. i may believe in mothman and shit. but ghosts? yeah, right.

I don't disbelieve in the existence of ghosts and spirits.

I do believe that shows like the Ghost Hunters series exist only to commercialize on the feelings of those that feel stronger about the paranormal. Their methods are generally sketchy, and debunkable.

Yikes, the comments in this thread are worse than the ones in the religion thread as far as attacking anothers beliefs. Why isn't this thread locked?

Aside from the fact that a couple mods seem to agree with the offending viewpoints, hmmm.

Now hang on a sec....

For starters, belief in the paranormal isn't exactly a contentious and divisive topic. Religion can be.

That thread got nasty. This one isn't.

To me, that's the big difference.

Yeah, I definitely have to agree with you there. I know it's generally true of just about everything on TV presented as "reality" that certain things are played up to create more compelling television.

I did dvr the midnight show and after watching it, I was really disappointed.
The original one from Ghost Hunters was ten times better.
