... and escorted by two F-16 fighter jets just an hour and a half into the flight on it's way to Maui from Oregon. The comment card itself, I actually laughed at. The guy looks like a creep, but I think he's telling the truth when he said he was joking. I've filled out comment cards like that before. Not on an airline, but you get the idea. Here's what it said: Quote: I thought I was going to die, we were so high up," the card said. "I thought to myself: I hope we don't crash and burn or worse yet landing in the ocean, living through it, only to be eaten by sharks, or worse yet, end up on some place like Gilligan's Island, stranded, or worse yet, be eaten by a tribe of headhunters, speaking of headhunters, why do they just eat outsiders, and not the family members? Strange ... and what if the plane ripped apart in mid-flight and we plumited (sic) to earth, landed on Gilligan's Island and then lived through it, and the only woman there was Mrs. Thurston Howell III? No Mary Anne (my favorite) no Ginger, just Lovey! If it were just her, I think I'd opt for the sharks, maybe the headhunters. Shitty because he's in serious trouble, and it's not fair to all those people that had their lives disrupted, but what an insane situation. Whoever made that call needs to have their sense of humor surgically replaced. That's so obviously a joke (and a mildly amusing one at that). |

I don't even think what he wrote was all that bad/threatening. It was funny, though. Am I a terrorist for thinking it was funny? |

backthatSASSup wrote: Am I a terrorist for thinking it was funny? Depends on who you talk to, seems like everyone is a terrorist these days, unless you're a boring, bland, and mundane person... Honestly, there is a safety precaution, then there is just over kill...anyone who doesn't think this falls in the latter needs to have a serious reality check. Escorting a plane with an F-16 over a comment card, because the guy said the word "Die" in it? Really? What the fuck is wrong with people? Over-reacting (to the incident on Christmas day) instead of being proactive is just as bad as doing nothing at all. |

So, uh, who exactly paid for those F-16s to escort that plane? |

God forbid we ever use Intelligence, and go after real threats... |

backthatSASSup wrote: So, uh, who exactly paid for those F-16s to escort that plane? John Q. Taxpayer...all 1.8Million it probably cost us in launching, refueling, repositioning, and maintaining the plane. Not to mention the man hours, and documentation of the incident. All in all, I'd say a pretty shoddy investment, especially over a comment card that about 1 in every 50 are read. |

He should have just held onto the card until they landed. Of course then he wouldn't have been allowed on his return flight. These hightened tensions are really going to put a cramp on my two favorite airplane games - 'spot the FAM, touch his shoulder and nod toward my buddy', and 'best airplane movie terrorist scene played at full volume during mid-flight'. |

HAHAHAHAHA I would be a person to write something like that. What he wrote is pure win, people need a sense of humor because it was sarcasm to the fullest. If he gets in trouble over this card, then FUCK whoever arrested him. We should all start collecting money and bail him out if it happens. |

I have a conspiracy theory. This is certainly how you force a public to not even talk about something(censorship). They try to get the public to be scared to discuss terrorism on the internet too. NEVER let them take your words. NEVAR! half j/k |
