Although I grew up in Western New York I didn't learn to ice skate until a few years ago...here in Florida. We played street hockey when I was a kid, but I had to come to the sunshine state before I ever laced up iceskates. |

Since all I ever had were hand-me-downs for blades (an old 1950's pair) I learned how to fall properly, before ever taking my first strides. Once I was able to sell the idea on my folks to get me some skates that had actual ankle support, it wasn't too bad. Thank god for thick snow pants! Now roller blades, totally different story. Could never use them unless I was semi buzzed, lol. Only time I'd start to fall would be when the rye and cokes wore off and I became more stiff in my actions. |

I'm a pretty good ice skater, although I think if I ever attempted to skate backwards I would probably end up with a shattered elbow. |

its like riding a bike. once you learn it, it stays with you. i often times feel more comfortable on skates then walking. haha. |

I have skated, but probably not for 20 years. I never got good at it. I was always the kid whose parents had strapped a pillow to his butt before he got to hit the local frozen stream. |

Been skating since early childhood. Right now, my skating is limited to go to hockey practice with my 5-year old son (in his Vanek jersey of course) who by the way WILL DEFINITELY BE the Sabres first round pick in 2023. And I promise he'll be a "backchecking machine"!!!!!!!!!!!!
