While I agree that the Bible has some great principles printed in it to live by, I believe it's also one of the most hypocratic books out there. I think that Pants really did derail the thread, and wish to give him and the rest of us heathens a place to talk, and if Rut or any other individual wants to come in and stoke the coals, then please, come on in.

I guess I'd consider myself an agnostic, because I just don't know. I can see believing in a God, one that one day farted and the INFINITE universe sprang from. Not only did the universe *happen*, but everything that has been written in it is scripted, including some poor soul praying for help and then either getting the desired outcome or not.

I can also accept that it's possible that the universe ALWAYS has and ALWAYS will be, and that there's nothing else.

I always have to snicker at this though:

Quote:
Christianity - The belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
Yeah, Christianity makes perfect sense.

I agree with a lot of what Pants said, but want to be respectful to Rut, because I know that the belief in God and/or Jesus has positively affected a LOT of people's lives, including the woman I love... she and I had this discussion last night, that she didn't know if she could be with someone that didn't believe in God, because she wants to raise her children believing in God.

I'm fine with that, I think that when they're old enough to make their own decision, they will. That voice of doubt will undoubtedly show up in everybody's life at some point. The voice in my head screams back and forth, as follows:

"PROVE GOD EXISTS!"
"PROVE GOD DOESN'T EXIST!"
lather. rinse. repeat.

:naughty: The word trainwreck has been edited out of your heading as it serves no intent other than provocation. We have threads about legalizing drugs, an open bar, hot women, etc. The Christian thread is being afforded the same consideration whose intent was to discuss biblical passages. Since it appears to be back on track, this one shall do the same. Discussion is fine as long as it remains civil. No need to antagonize or it will be closed.

I wasn't antagonizing at all...I was actually poking fun at the way the other thread was referred to as a trainwreck. And I was trying to right the ship as well. I would have loved to jump into that thread with Pants and rip Rut and everyone else apart for their views, but I don't think THAT was right. And if I'd made a thread called "objectifying women" would it not have been the same exact thing? because it's religion though, it's oh-so-touchy...

Provocation would be me saying something along the lines of "Christians are stupid zombie followers" in the title. That's provocation. Put the word back in the title or lock the thread. You're being too "touchy", and I'm not really in the mood to be fucked with by a mod.

It is not the first time a thread title has been edited nor will it be the last.

Factor in how many different backgrounds and beliefs the members of these forums adhere to, and a thread title alone is enough to see a forum explosion. We're not going to let that happen.

Since I will not put the word trainwreck back in the title, your thread has been locked per your request.
