Anyone exercising or trying to lose weight? What are you doing to lose weight? Diets? Counting calories? Taking fat-burnign pills? Are you walking, doing exercise videos or weight lifting (ETC, lifting a full beer doesn't count)?

I found on my digital cable, Exercise on Demand. It has so many videos for free that you can try. I'm doing a Walk at Home program with Leslie Sansone and its perfect for me right now. i don't feel like my eyes are popping out of my head and I sweat like a pig! Its awesome.

The easiest way I found to workout was playing ice hockey 2-4 times a week, works out everything and its fun.

Female. I need to lose a boatload of weight. Last trip to the doctor a couple weeks ago, i weighed in at one pound less than i did when I was in labor at the hospital with my son 9 years ago. And there ain't no baby in there today! I wish I lived near a YMCA. I love water aerobics, but we live in an extremely rural world and those things are at least a half hour away.

So, I'm down almost ten pounds since a couple weeks ago. The Doctor wants me down 15 by march 15th...but I'm upping that to 25. i want to lose as much weight as I can before the dreaded plateau hits. I hate plateaus.

Do you have any equipment right now, or are you willing to purchase any?

The proven best way to lose weight is through diet AND exercise...AEROBIC exercise. While muscle-building activities will help in weight loss because muscle burns more calories, it's not really what many people want to do.

Suicide drills would be supreme, but I'd spent the entire time on my ass.

ETC...LOL

I have a couple of hand weights and a stepper and airdyne bike that are currently being used as hangers for my clothes. I love the walking videos...its very aerobic. Like i said, I sweat like a pig! And I feel great after. She has the one, two and three mile versions and I just upped it to the two mile. Then after I do some ab exercises adn push ups.

Easiest thing is exercise and diet. Sounds easy but thats the long and short of it. 80% of losing weight/getting in shape is your diet and what you put in your body. Cut out fried foods and soda whenver possible (Ive done it completely), and try to average at least 100g protein a day. Start taking a multi-vitamin if you don't already. Also, calories aren't necessarily your worst enemy like so many people believe - as long as they aren't excessive. Another thing is, try to eat 5 small portioned meals throughout the day. Do not starve yourself. When you don't eat, your body naturally thinks it needs to protect itself and it will actually store MORE fat, 5 small meals will boost your metabolism. Try a light breakfast, fruit (apple, orange, banana) in between meals, and try not to eat dinner past 7PM. Besides that/walking/running,biking, elliptical training and as much cardio as possible will make the weight come off the fastest. Also, try to drink at least a gallon of water a day.

"At least" 100g of protein a day is a LOT. That's more equated with building muscle mass. 5 meals with snacks between is a great philosophy, as it does everything KneeGrows said. The time you don't eat past varies on your bedtime...if you don't go to sleep until 12-1am, then eating up until 9-10 is okay.

You also could go to GNC and ask them for a recommendation for a thermogenic. There are ones specifically designed for women, Ive used Lipo6 in the past and it works great, also has a womens version. Need to be careful though, very high in caffeine so if your a coffee drinker its one or the other

I'd suggest staying away from supplements as much as possible...

You're giving some pretty heady advice KneeGrows, for someone who's out of shape to the extent Kris is describing (not overweight or obese, but not exactly a marathon runner) suggesting to someone to take a thermogenic is fairly irresponsible.

Whoa there fella.....she asked how to do it fast, thats all. And I fail to see how its "irresponsible."

And thanks for modifying the post from "fucking irresponsible" to "fairly irresponsible"....if people don't want advice, they shouldn't ask. Also, there's this great thing called free will. If she doesn't like the advice, nobody is forcing anything on her, lol. Chill out

Yeah, those pills kinda scare me anyways. I'd be afraid of having a heart attack. I do get Whey Protien and toss in a scoop in a smoothie to make it 'last' till dinner. The protien really helps to keep my hands out of the cookie jar.

"Hey, I heard from someone on the internet that I want a thermogenic, something that'll make my heart race and increase my body temperature. It's going to make me sweat more, and if I'm not careful and make sure I hydrate properly, I could suffer dehydration or overheat. Overheating? That's bad? Yeah, things like heat stroke can happen in the middle of winter."

Supplements are things to be used with discretion after it's proven that diet and exercise changes don't work. When she hits the plateau, go ahead and scream supplement all day long, and I'll agree with you every time.

Yeah, going from nothing straight to a thermogenic seems a little much.

Personally, I'm not a fan of them to begin with. Anything that promises to keep your metabolism up while you're sitting on the couch playing Xbox doesn't fly with me.

If you are looking for a meal replacement type shake, whey protein is fine but Casein protein will work better for you. It takes longer for the body to digest it and the Amino Acids provided by the Casein protein are released at a slower rate than whey. It works a little better for appetite suppression if thats what you were looking for.

Very little outside of milk and cheese. Its most commonly synthesized and sold in powdered form, ala whey. Its a little pricier though.

Thanks Kris
I thought for sure when I saw this thread it was going to be about an exorcism :shhh:

I have the opposite problem. I can't gain weight and will lose it if I don't maintain a certain calorie intake very day. I'm convinced metabolism has something to do with it especially given that I don't even have a thyroid.

My son was on a diet/fitness program that did him wonders. I don't know a lot about it, but it was called PX90.
