A place for those of us who follow the practices of our Scandinavian brothers and sisters of old. Feel free to discuss your views on Midgard, Asgard, Jötunheimr, or any of the other cosmos, your plans for the inevitable Ragnarok, your feelings regarding the bloody Æsir–Vanir war and the events leading it, or if you're feeling controversial, we could maybe discuss the potential opening of Völvaship to males. Or maybe you just want to throw back a little mead, and discuss your latest conquest. We're not going to discriminate here, as long as you're not lashing out against the mighty Allfather. |

While not a practicer of Asatru, I do love me the general tenets of the religion - honoring your ancestors, being very community-minded, and (as one Asatru site I have bookmarked says) being excellent unto one another. About honoring your ancestors, my grandfather instilled a strong sense of Viking history into me as a kid, and it's because of him I see myself most as a Swede. Also, it's the reason I want to get my Viking sleeve of tattoos. I read a Viking prayer at his funeral. Hailsa. |

Hm, while my education was pretty well rounded, it did not include anything of Norse mythology, I have no idea who any of those people are. (people? Gods?) Whats the story? Is there some easy way to summarize their belief system? |

^Likewise^. I'd be interested in hearing about their early migration pattern and how it relates to Gaelic ancestry. History lesson anyone? |

I'd be a pretty good source of information on Viking myth, but I'll let Rud do most of the talking on this since the thread is his baby. I will say this, though - the Vikings have the best creation myth of any creation myth ever known. |

I could realistically see this as one of the few religions I could seriously follow. To Valahall I ride! |

I guess realistically is a bit to much emphasis, but it's a pretty bad ass religion if you read the stories about their gods and heroes. Celtic druidism is another cool religion as well. |
